This is for animals ENTERING the UK. You may want to do a lot of checking before you assume all will be easy and fine.

Contact the airlines that you plan to travel on and they will explain to you the rules and regulations of traveling with a pet. Please understand that your Chihuahua will be placed in quarantine even if you can prove it has had all of its shots. Rabies and some other canine diseases do not exist in other countries than the U.S. and they wish to keep these diseases out of their countries.
I recommend that you ahve a close family member to care for your Chihuahua while you visit abroad in England. Unless you are plannin on moving there, in that case you will have to deal with the quarantine and deal with visiting your dog during that time. I do not know how long they require quarantine but I certainly wouldn't want to leave my Chihuahuas in quarantine with starngers unless it was absolutely necessary such as moving.
I am hesitant to leave mine overnight at the vet for this reason and usually pay my sisters to watch them while they stay at my house.
Also unless you pay for an extra ticket more than likely your Chihuahua will have to travel to England in a kennel crate via the luggage department. UGH I couldn't treat my dogs like a piece of luggage, no way, not ever.
It is up to you though just get all the facts before you do it.

I think everyone is right about the quarantine, and the health certificate before flying. I flew from Puerto Rico with my Chi on Jan. 2nd, had a health cert from a vet and since PR is a U.S. Territory, there was no quarantine. I too would not be willing to leave my Chi with a strange vet or boarding facility, so I would avoid having to quarantine her unless you were actually moving to England. Better safe than sorry.

You had better check into it, as far as I know all dogs are quarantined when entering England, and must have up to date health certificates too. It used to be a 6 month quarantine period, so you had better find out.

You do realize, right, that you dog will have to be quaritined after he gets over there and then again when he does get home because I think that he would be quarintined longer than you would be staying in England. Call the airline and to find out for sure.
