Well, this morning I got a phone call from my kids telling me that my dog had bloody diarrhea. So, instead of running right home and jumping on YA, I called the vet. I waited, waited while my poor dog suffered and soooo many qualified people were right here on YA waiting to tell me what to do, until noon when I could get him into the vet! Shame on me!!! Then, once I got him there, I actually could AFFORD the bill and TOOK the vet's advice!
Please tell me how I can over come this? Why was I so stupid, not to turn to YA instead of a qualified vet? What was I thinking???

Sammie will be fine. He just has a bacterial intestinal infection. He is on medication and temporary diet change. The Vet told me that it should clear up in a few days. He will be back next week for a follow up!

Shame on YOU..We all could have helped you by telling you to take it to the vet..and you cheated us out if the opportunity..
One asker, the other night, asked for a diagnosis for his dog..My answer was, " I know exactly what it is..a disease called, "Veterinarian Deprivation".
I couldn't believe it when he gave me best answer! lol
There are no courses in public schools for responsible pet care, so I really think the askers are wondering if the symptoms are easily 'fixed' with home remedies..
Sometimes there are first aid procedures that can be done on the way to, or waiting for the vet.
I guess there is often a lack of gut instincts, when pet owners don't know what to do..So when we verify that the dog should go to the vet, it reaffirms what they were already thinking.

Hey, next time you have a heart attack or stroke, we'll help you through it.
There are many professionals wondering the halls of YA. Problem is they're never in the "office" when you need them.
Besides, the Internet is a dicey place to get advice.
You never know who's providing the information.
Next time you have an emergency go with your gut instinct and a blood 'n flesh Doctor instead of to us idiots on the Internet.

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU WERE THINKING!!!
Who cares if you can afford it just think of the money you could have saved instead of wasting it. I am sure someone could have told you to give some pepto or you could have just poured some motor oil on the dog I was told it seems to work for eveything else. LMAO
Well just remember we are here if you need a second opinion.

You know there will be repercussion for using your head...
Your pup will get well because you didn't wait 4 days for the dog to bleed out its eyeballs before you asked Y.A. for a DIY remedies.
What's with you girl? Do you really think a qualified vet knows the answer to a very sick dog with bloody diarrhea?
I'm going to report you for using better judgment! Now where is that abuse flag...LOL

You know that you were being a 'good pet parent' by taking your dog to the vet instead of going online and asking in Yahoo Answers ... but just because you and I know 'what to do' doesn't mean everyone does, so you need to 'lighten up' and mayb answer a few 'silly questions' so maybe the ones who DON'T know how to be a good 'pet parent' or have a real problem they don't know how to start answering, can LEARN from you 'experience' ... and 'GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE" about being 'better' than the people who ask questions here ... I actually found this site because I had a question that my vet didn't know the answer to, but someone here did know. SO THERE.

Sometimes its best that a professional answers your question. I think this board is for "non-life threatening" questions and answers. If your dog is doing well now, consider it a blessing. Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is and it's a matter of life and death for your dog, seek professional help. And no you are not stupid!

You turned to a QUALIFIED pet doctor instead of turning to a bazillion know-it-alls?????????? And then took his advice???
What is wrong with you????????
I think just for that, you need to go out and buy yourself - and your kids for actually calling a parent in times of trouble - an ice cream (or some other fattening treat)!
:)
Hope your doggie is feeling better in no time.

Sounds to me like you must be one of those rare people that can think for themselves and know how to care for a sick dog!
Wow! At least you came back and gave us the opportunity to get those 2 points we would have gotten by telling you to take him to the vet!
Thanks!
