They make a deviceThe Bark Stop called that can be used in kennels and dog shelters. It is placed outside near the noise and puts out a sound that is irritating to the dogs when they bark. This will only work for nuisance barking not panic barking and protection barking. It costs about $50 which to me is a fair price if it is guaranteed to work. It may depend on how close the dogs are to your home otherwise you may ahve to put it on a fence or tree to get the full effect from it.
Give it a try.

Talk to your local police department. I know where I live there is a noise ordinance. If the dog is barking for a certain amount of time or during a certain time during the day or night your neighbors can be fined - for several accounts if they don't stop the barking. Unfortunately no there is no sonic device. Have you tried talking to your neighbor? If they are reluctant get a petition from the other neighbors. You could even talk to your home owner's association if you have one and THEY can issue warnings and also get the police involved. IF the dog has been outside for a long period of time too - w/ no shelter you can call the police for animal cruelty and they will be fined also. It might be away to get the message across. Good Luck

Unless your neighbor would allow you to install a trigger collar on their dog, then there really isn't anything you can do from where you are. Even if you could rig up a device that would deliver measurable sound waves to the dog at that distance, you couldn't control that the only time it went off was when the dog barked. If the dog is corrected for every loud noise--even ones that they don't make, they won't associate the correction with the barking.
Your best bet is to talk to your neighbors. Tell them that you hear their dog and that its bothering you. I have 3 dogs...and consider myself very concientious of their barking. There are times that dogs will be dogs and bark--mine especially hate squirrels and have no problem chasing them out of the yard and warning them to never come back. But if one of my neighbors ever told me that they were barking too much, I would consider it my responsibility as a pet owner to correct the situation. Granted my pups don't bark all the time so I'm not worried that I'll ever have to do anything about this...but I would if I had to.
So..If this dog is barking all the time, then that is really annoying. If he is just barking once in a while at another dog or something. Then I hate to say that this is one of the draw backs to living within a neighborhood. If you want complete silence, then move to the country where you are the only house on several acres.

Excellent question!!! Believe me, complaining to the "authorities" does NOTHING. I live in a townhouse with barking dogs on either side of me...their owners aren't home all day so they BOTH bark and whine INSIDE the house ALL DAY . I've lodged complaint four times in five years and all they do is post warnings on their doors. They say they can't do anything because the dogs are INSIDE. Since the dogs your're talking about are outside, you might have better luck than me. Try calling animal control, or maybe get a petition going from some of your neighbors who may be just as annoyed as you are. Good luck!

In short, the answer is NO. A sonic device will upset other dogs (yours as well) so you can't. Knock on their door and politely let them know that their dog is barking a lot.
If it doesn't slow down or stop, contact your Council, but it is very unethical to go straight to your council with out first speaking with the neighbour, if you don't have the courage, drop a note in their letter box.

I heard of such a device but I never saw one. It would be nice to have a sonic device so that every time dog barks, we can beep it. I don't understand people who don't care about other's quest for peace and quiet.

Not that I agree with this, but my friend had dogs that barked all of the time, and her neighbor's bought a paintball gun. You can imagine what happened. They don't bark when they are outside anymore.

Complain to the city/county- they will have to do something about it.
Talk to the neighbor first and document it.
If it does not stop and the authorities don't respond, you can file legal action to force the neighbor to control their dogs or get rid of them.
