We have a pet gate, about 2 feet tall, but our dog can jump over it when we are gone, and he goes in the living room, messes on the carpet, etc... We put him outside before leaving, he just gets mad at us for leaving him alone... Anyway, he learned to jump over the gate and I don't want a shock collar! So, I was wondering, if there's a really tall "pet gate", about 4 feet tall ( I'm sure that'll do)

Thank you very much!

when we were sitting on the bed in my room, she ran in jumped on the bed, and started "humping" or doing something like that to our backs. She is a border collie/wheaten terrier mix. Why does she do this and how can I stop/prevent this?

When I have my puppy sleep in his kennel at night, I hear him whining, and soon barking, and he really doesn't want to go in when I try to put him in. This doesn't work out well in an apartment complex. I take him out side to go potty, but he doesn't need to go. How do I stop him from crying.

I just got a new dachshund today. He's really sweet and he's gentle with my 9 mo. old but he seems to whine a lot. If I leave the room for 2 seconds he freaks and whines. When I left today to buy his crate when I got back an hour later he was screeching and hollering like he was being killed! I can't understand that. Is that a dachshund thing or is there something wrong with him? I got him from another family who has 2 kids but to my knowlege he was great to them and gave them no problems and had good health. He's a lot different from my very laid back pekinese. What are some characteristics of a 1 yr. old male dachshund?

They have weak backs (jumping is discouraged) but is sitting up straight bad for them? Mine does it as a 'trick' all the time now.

My dog is a little unsure of himself. I was wondering if there were any exercises that I could do with him to boost his confidence, apart from being confident myself and giving him lots of praise.

We have a male Dachshund that we thought was the greatest dog in the world so we wanted to continue his line. When he was 8, we bought the perfect female Dachschund to breed him to and have puppies- these would be the greatest puppies in the world!
BUT our plan has not been realized- this spring he will be 11 and she will be 3, and no puppies. He tries when she comes in heat, but he never really seems to get it, although he comes very close to getting it right- he's in great shape for a 10 year old dog, plays like a puppy, and is very interested when she comes in heat, but we are starting to think they won't have puppies on their own. -Maybe you can't teach an old dog new tricks. How hard would it be to artificially inseminate her with his semen? Is this a common practice- could we do it with a q-tip or something or do we need to take them to the vet and how expensive would it be? We've invested over 500, but money isn't really an object- we want the puppies

About a month ago my husband and I got a new puppy. She is about 8 months old and is VERY playful. Well yesterday we just got a new 7 week old kitten. And out dog wants to play with her. But she nips at her and licks her and claws at her. I know she is just wanting to play but the kitten is to little to defend herself from the big dog. I can’t really keep them apart, how can I get the dog to play nice with the kitten?

I recently got a four year old boxer. He's a really good dog, but he continues to pee in my house in the same spot. I need to know what to do. I work from 7:30 to 4:30 and usually get home by 5. I don't want to get rid of him because he's been bounced around so much and he' grown on me. What can I do.
