Parvo is highly contagious to unprotected dogs, and the virus can remain infectious in ground contaminated with fecal material for five months or more if conditions are favorable. Extremely hardy, most disinfectants cannot kill the virus, however chlorine bleach is the most effective and inexpensive agent that works, and is commonly used by veterinarians. Also ask your veterinarian if they can help you acquire a cleaner called "Parvo-Sol" which has been developed to kill the virus.

Puppies that survive Parvo are usually somewhat weak the rest of their lives, bur exceptions are present! Good luck!

Unfortunatelly, parvovirus is very resistant to environment conditions .You have to clean your house with strong desinfectants, like quaternary ammonium , and let tham act for several minutes before you cleanse them. Theworetically, when a puppy rec overs from partvo, it aquires nimunity fro a short time( vusualy months), after wich you sohuld get it vaccinated.

Generally once they have had it if they live they develop some immunity to it although you still will need vaccinations. If the pup is under three months old it is next to impossible to save them.

If you pup has been treated and everything has been disinfected with bleach you should be okay.
