Honestly don't worry about it, the kitten will eventually learn to play back and you will have a hilarious duo that keep one another occupied. At fist just use a squirt bottle with water to squirt your pup if she gets too rough and tell her NO!. Trust me things will all work out.. you just wait the kitten will soon be nipping, clawing and ambushing the pup just as much as the pup is doing now. My sister went through the same thing with her young dog and new kitten who were about the same age as your cat and dog when she first got the kitten. At first the kitten would run away or hide because the dog would try to play with him constantly but by just keeping and eye on them and making sure the pup wasnt too rough, the two of them are now inseperable friends who constantly play with one another... the kitten (now almost a cat) ambushes the dog and bites her tail climbs on her etc and they chase each other around all night, play tag and hide and seek and generally keep eachother well occupied. Trust me your dog and kitten will form a great friendship if you allow them to dont keep the kitten away like some people have suggested because then they wont get used to eachother... Just break things up if they are too rough and I guarantee that your kitten will soon reach the age where it is extremely playful, even more so than the dog and you will be glad they play together because if a kitten is bored and doesnt have a playmate they get into alot of trouble!! When they have a dog friend to wrestle with they keep each other out of trouble!!
PS It is actually awesome that you got the dog before the cat because if you have a cat first they almost never learn to play with a new dog... but a kitten brought into your house after a dog always learns to be great friends and playmates with the dog because they can grow up around the dog and get used to it. Trust me your kitty will soon become the attacker and enjoy being the attackee... all in fun of course!

I'm kind of wondering why you cant keep them apart, don't you have a bathroom with a door where you can put the cat and litter pan when you aren't around? Aside from that, the puppy needs to be trained on a leash, keep him on it whenever the cat is around. If he gets to aggressive with the cat or excited, pull him back using whatever command word or sound you choose, lay him down on his side or back, this is the calm submissive state, don't let him up til he had lost all tension in his body, let the kitten walk around him, on him, or whatever when he is like this, make sure he remains down, even if you have to hold him gently or firmly, whichever works in the situation. When he is calm enough you can let him sit up, but if he starts getting excited again, pull him back and do it again. The kitten will become a pack leader if you do this right and the dog will recognize this. I suggest watching the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic.

You can't. You are going to have to keep them apart yourselves, physically, in separate rooms if necessary.
And what did you think would happen to your kitten? Of course your puppy thinks your kitten is a toy, poor little thing.
I would advise you to give up your kitten, to a loving home not the shelter, it is being terrorized now and when it grows up with a nasty attitude, you aren't going to like it and it's going to be psychotic.
What on earth made you think this would be a good idea? I really want to know.

Can you put a nasty tasting spray on the kitty? Something that is safe for kitten, but doesnt taste so good to puppy?

You could hit or tap his or her nose when he is being bad with the cat.
