I would appreciate if you would give me a reveiw on APBT (american pitt bull terriers) and tell me what you think, if you are in england, of the behaviour of the dogs that have recently attacked people.
Much Appreciated...

I have a 2 yr old Husky who has been digging up my back yard, even exposing roots to some very old trees. I have tried red pepper flakes in the holes and he just waits until it rains and digs again or moves to another part of the yard and digs. Help!

This is for breeders, and not BYB's please. Have any of you had experience with belly banding a newborn pup? This is a pup that had a loop of intenstine through that needed to be sewn up immediately after birth. The intestine was put back in and it was stitched up. We have used a small piece of gauze over the the belly and it was banded around the belly with cloth tape. The ***** was able to get the band off. Has anyone had a pup that they have banded and the ***** has left it alone, so she could not take the stiches out? What have you used?

if you drop something or go to put leash on, she cowers down, if a car goes by or a dog barks outside she will even stop any attempt at potty training. this is making it very difficult to train her. also she hears the wind and she heads for the door

I meet yobs regularly when I walking my well behaved dogs and feel threatened by them. I reported this to police but they said unless the dog is proved to be a pure breed by would you beleive DNA testing they can do nothing about them. Family pets are being attacked all the time by these louts and their loutish dogs it is destressing and cruel to witness such behaviour.

Vets have taken tests, used cameras and kept the dog in overnight for observation but are still none the wiser. My parents own two dogs from the same litter and now thy both seem to have the same problem so it must be contagious. The dog whos symptoms are worse has been like this for approx 6 months now and it is very upsetting. The vetinary bills are also mounting with no end insight. Please help!

Cyclists and ramblers would expect to get attacked ocasionally in England. I have been attacked in the face by a lurcher and chased by a pack of mongrels. Recently, someone in London was set upon by three dogs and dispatched (i.e. murdered) with a meat cleaver by the owners. Accidents with Staffordshire Bull Terriers are so frequent that the breed is a thorough nuisance.

Ammonia spray, pepper spray, bleach spray, stout metal cosh. The latter two are used most often. The bleach can be used to clean the dog **** off bicycle tyres.

I believe that people who own dangerous dogs should take a 'Competent Dog Owner' Test, as those of us who drive cars take driving tests. To prove that they can handle and care for a dog responsibly. Is this good idea?

My dog is 8.5 years old and is a mixed breed. He is the sweetest dog most of the times but there are times when he attacks/bites/rips flesh for reasons otherwise unjustified(like touching him when he is awaiting his feed). He has cataract in both eyes and turns into a beast during the nights. He has bitten a friend on the face and my dad on the hand, both resulting in plastic surgeries. I know its not safe for me to keep him with me, but dont have the heart to put him either. He is so attached and dependant on me that i'm not sure if he can live without me.
Please help me if i can do something about is behaviour thru medication or teeth grinding or anyting else so that i can have him without any fears.

My uncle family's has 2 dogs. A boxer and a beagle. Both of which have spent most of their life in a kennal. They are never let out, only fed leftovers and bones, never petted, never given any attention, overweight, and even though they live in the the same small space they live on chains so short they can't even smell each other. My uncle's family has a huge backyard. A backyard big enough to fit my whole house. But he'll never let his dogs out of the kennel because for fear of them peeing on the grass and turning it yellow. His family often forgets to feed them and will only feed them when they hear howling. Their other excuse for not feeding them or giving them any attention is because my uncle says the dogs belong to 2 of his sons and that it's thier problems to deal with.

I have been wanting to report them, but I had always believed that my uncle would come around and actually start giving these dogs the love they deserve. And they live in 6 hours away from me.

I've recently "adopted" a very young dog (maybe black lab mix?) that was severly abused and dumped. She's now pretty healthy, but she's scared of everything and always cowers. My initial strategy was to consistantly love on her and keep her food bowl full to try to give her a sense of safety and security. She seems better, but still scaredy and pitiful, for example you can NOT put a leash on her, she's scared of being in inclosed spaces and she still cowers and crawls when near people (that's not as bad as it was at first). Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, she deserves the best.

My dog just turned 13 about a month ago (big Golden Retriever, weighs about 90 pounds), and his right eye is kind of hanging low. The only times we see it this low is whenever he is in a very deep sleep or has been given tranquilizer pills to calm him down during a thunderstorm. But this is now consistent. I've read up on dog eyelid diseases/problems, and I could probably relate this one best to ectropion, except I'm doubting this to be right considering it's an inheritable disease, and considering it's inheritable, you'd think it would first show up a long time ago. What is it, and what can I do about this? Is this common to see in older age retrievers? Please do not suggest surgery, as he's far too old to handle surgery now.
