tough. let him throw a fit. the best way to introduce a leash is to put in on the pup and let him troll it around behind him, but always be close by so he doesn't get it caught on something. this will help him get used to being attached to something. walk him around your house, and he will probably throw a fit, refuse to move, do aligator rolls, etc...let him as long as he is not endangering himself. dont say a word while he's doing this. when he's done give a gentle tug on the lead and turn away from him and keep walking slowly. for evertime he takes a step praise him like he's the only dog to ever figure this out and keep walking. when he starts throwing his fit again, stop and wait, repeat and be consistant is all you can do. and for this exercise right now just keep a nylon buckle or snap collar on him. no training collar. work with him in 15 min spurts about 3-4 times a day. inside the house, outside, etc...and when he's old enough take him to a training class so he can learn heel and how to work with distractions around him, like other dogs and people. a dog that is not leash trained is in danger, even if it's a small dog because even at the vet you have to sign forms, fill out checks, sign credit card receipts, etc..unless you want to lug your dog around in a crate all the time. it will take time. he's a pup and is going to test you, he won't like being told no. but if you're consistant and praise and not disipline for learning he will grow to be a confident dog that sees you as his leader. good luck.

My puppy is the same way...but it is possible. LOTS of praise and calling him...telling him what a good puppy he is and that you are going for a walk. We've been out a few times and the praise is almost constant...and when we come home I pet him and tell him what a good puppy he is and we had a good walk. They aim to please you and if they see how happy this makes you it should help! With our older dog I put a very light weight leash on her as soon as she came home and she was always by someone's side (when not in her crate) until she was housebroken. She gets excited now when she sees a lease because she knows we are going for a walk!

Let him run around the house for a bit with the lead on so he can get used to it being there for a bit, then take him for a walk.

When I first put a lead on my pup she didn't like it either. But since she has learned that if the leads going on she is going for a walk, she has got used to it and loves it when I pick the lead up now coz she knows she's going out.

Well what I did with my puppy was, put it on her and when she sat and pulled back, I just sat or stood there with her and talked to her and patted her. I would start moving away and she would follow. Eventually I turned it into a game where she would chase after me while on the leash. She soon began to feel comfortable and would start waking on her own...another good idea is to hold the leash close to it's base, hold it firm and lift it while talking firmly, but lovingly to your dog. It kinda gives the dog the idea that the lead is the boss. (It also works with trying to train your dog to sit, stay, etc...)

Put his lead on, then reward him (small piece of cooked chicken or sausage, very small piece) . Take the lead off. Repeat this, leaving his lead on for a bit longer each time, extending with a walk and so on. He will soon learn that it is a good thing to put the lead on, especially if it leads to a walk. Good luck

Use a thin bit of string, attach it to his collar and let him play with it and get used to having it drag behind him. He doesn't understand what this thing is and is afraid of it. In a day or so he will get used to the string and then the leash.

TIE A SHOELACE TO HIS COLAR / HARNESS WITH A SMALL TOY ATTACHED TO IT. HE'LL SEE IT AS A PLAY TIME THING AND WILL BE DISTACTED BY IT.
