on christmas my inlaw's dog bit the face of my 18 month old neice. the child did not even notice the dog, which is a lhasa, (just to put a stop to the pit bull lynching mob), the dog jumped off the couch and aggressivley attacked her cheek. thankfuly no skin was broken. have a 1 year old child who could have been the one attacked just as easily. now my inlaws say the dog was just nervous because of the commotion and they will watch him closer. but they are not going to put him in a seperate room, or crate because he will think he is being punished. well now i'm the bad person because i will not let my child go over without me there and she can't get down if the dogs are not put up. am i wrong?

just to add, their other dog is a shih tzu, and they even admitted that they thought he would be the one to finally get one of the kids, not the other dog. this is why i'm insisting both dog be put up.

also these dogs run the house and do whatever they want, with no consequences

On Friday of last week, our Golden Retriever called Honey was put to sleep after her kidneys were failing. Our vet told us that if she was a human being she would be on a dialysis machine.
She had not eaten since Christmas Day and was just wanting to drink water but then be sick. She may have lasted another week but we could not stand to see her suffering so much. On Thursday after we received the news. I sat up with her all night and told her how much I loved her she kept looking at me and giving me a paw. When the time came to say goodbye it was awful. I am truly heartbroken and cannot stop crying. Unfortanately we don't have children but I honestly feel that I have lost a child. Is this sad or am I overreacting. Has anyone else lost a dog through Kidney problems is there something we should have picked up on early and could have saved her. I just don't know why this has happened. She turned 9 on Boxing day which is not old for her bless her.

Please reply and help me

my puppy was spayed on a thursday. the following sunday i went to work at 2:50, my wife and 2 sons came home at 4:00. they foud the puppy with it guts hanging out. they bundled up the puppy and headed to the vet, the vet found she had shewed threw her intestines and could do nothing to help her and gave her a shot to ease the suffering. 2 weeks before her surgery we were at the vet and i had mentioned that puppy like to chew on herself. the vet set that was becuase she was working breed dog and thats what they do. so after the puppy died i called a couple of vets and they were puzzled why i had not recieved a e-collar after telling him that the puppy liked to chew on herself. i have filed a law suit against him. i proballt pissing in the wind with it. but i am angry. my 6 year old asked me why didnt god answer his prayer to save the puppy. and my wife is still having nightmares after 2 weeks.

My dog is a toy fox terrier(6-7 yo). And our other dog is a pitt bull/boxer mixed(2yo). Anyways, the mixed dog we've had since he was around 5 weeks so our tft was always around him as a puppy. As he got older he became an outside dog and our small dog she'll stay inside all the time. But whenever we bring in our mixed dog our tft goes crazy.

She get's really ugly, she raises her mouth and will show teeth if the other dog gets near her or us. If we reach down to play with the mixed dog she feels like she needs to protect and will bite the other dog in the butt, barely gets him it's on fur. But the other dog never does anything, he'll walk up and just want to lick her all over her face. But she just snaps and we tell her no and she knows it's bad but will continue to do it especially if the big dog raises his paws and gets them near her face. But the pitt never means any harm. I don't know what I should do? My parents and I are scared that one day our pitt could really hurt her badly.

I have a 1 year old chihuahua...my sweetheart...but I am getting so frustrated! My best friend is a vet tech and she told me that I should have my pooch eat dry food regularly. According to her theory, the dry food acts as a toothbrush, pushing plaque from the teeth which in turn delays decay and can give my pooch a longer life span It made sense to me so I have been trying it...but my pup will NOT eat dry food. I started him out on moistened/microwaved kibble as a pup and then moved on to specialty meals...the foil pouch meals/meaty dog foods with sauces, etc. After having that for a few months he laughs at the dry food...And I have left it in his bowl for 2 days recently (only replacing it every few hours to give him a fresh bowl.) He refuses to eat it. I'm more concerned about his not eating NOTHING now. Is it really this important that he eats dry food? Oh, and I tried the new "savory sauces" for dogs, too. He licked the sauce and left the rest...picky boy...

I recently moved in with my Mother after my Father's death. She had two dogs, and I had two. Only two of them a miniature poodle and Pomeranian are territorial and keep tagging our house for territory. We keep them outside more often to keep them from marking as often. And they even sleep in seperate bathrooms to keep them from marking through out the house overnight. We have exhausted any means and are desperate to get some balance back. We are too attached to give them away. And we just need to know where we are going wrong. We have tried treating them when they do good, keeping them outside more often to go potty, limiting there water so they don't stay loaded, and even spanking them when they do it. We know it's not because they need to go potty but because they are purely territorial. they have always been like this since puppies. And all four dogs were trained the same. The other two are no problem. Why are the other two dogs still marking our house. What do we do??

I have a basset and Chow mix, he's brown like a chow but has a body like a basset, short fat, and always sad looking. He's pretty unique. Anyone have any unusual breed mixes? I'd love to hear about it.

My day died 3 years ago, and the day after the funeral my fiance took me to home cos I was really worn out. its in the country so we went for a walk along the river, where we came across a straydogjust sitting inthe grass. We bothlove for dogs and we pet him. We played with him for a while but then had to go home ashermomwas cookingforus. Her parents have 2 dogs so we couldnt bring him back with us so we bought himsome dog food and tried to,sadly, run awayfrom him. We got about 500metres away and all of a sudden we hearthe sound of little paws behind us, and on comes the dog. So we jumped a ditch and went through a field of cows thinking he surely wouldnt follow us,but he did. Then we took off our shoes anddecided to cross the river. We gotacrossand started walking towards the road when the dogjumped in the river swam across and followed us home where heslept at the door all night. The nextmorning hewas still there and has been with us eversince?Any of u gota cute story of howumet ur dog
