Look to see what he is barking at and where he is running to or around where he is running. Often our animal children can see things and beings in other dimensions that we cannot see. Often animals can perceive things that will happen. Perhaps your "son" is anxious about something that will happen. Perhaps you carried some energy home from a hectic day at work and this is making your young man ill at ease.

You could heat up some milk and put it out for him. Dogs love warm milk. Maybe you could give your young man some nice, cooked turkey or some tuna fish. The milk, tuna and turkey all contain tryptophan which is an amino acid that allows for nice, deep sleep.

Close the curtains and put on some nice, smooth jazz or some soft classical music. Mood music like Andean flutes or Japanese instrumentals will also help calm down your young man.

Good luck, dear and bless you for loving this precious young canine lad.

My dog is just the same. He will run around and bark. What I do to my dog is I tell him to stop with a high pitched voice. While doing that I snap my fingers. If that doesn't work, say Calm in a sturdy tone and grab him mouth and nose area. Remember though you have to let him breathe, so don't cover his nose. If that doesn't work, try some of the other suggestions! Good Luck to you and your dog!

aww! Luckily my dogs don't get scared by the fireworks. Carry on with what you are doing, stroke her, talk to her, cuddle her :3 , give her some water. Tell her its okay and that she should calm down. Try turning off the radio and tv and just be quiet with her for a while. Give her treats, maybe take her for a walk. Dogs don't like the dark so try giving her a night light at night, it might just help. Give her lots of love and kisses. Maybe go and buy her a new toy :D Good luck

certified vet tech here. take the dog out of the room she is acting like this in . put her in a kennel cover it with a towel and in a quite area . make sure she has not gotten into any medicines check around the house for anything that looks out of place . give her some warm soft dog food as well. pet her as well and try and soothe her . but if you cant the kennel should so the trick make sure you cover it. dogs feel things and here things we do not. so there might be something happening or that may happen that she can feel, is this a new home or place for her, has someone close to you passed away .. ask yourself these questions , dogs sense things that we are selfs do not .

O.K. you are going to think that I'm really crazy but yesterday on the Dog Whisper Cesar Millan. Said that in order to clam an anxious dog they are asking for you to walk them. I know its late well in Alt GA its 1:00 am but I would take him for a walk and see if that works. Oh and if you that the national Geographic channel on cable I would watch because you can get a lot of helpful hints :)

it sounds like something is bothering him...have you checked outside?? perhaps there is another dog out there, or something. maybe you should take him into a quiet room like maybe your bedroom, and pet him, and speak softly to him. the calmer YOU are the calmer he will be. could you be anxious about something?? perhaps he is sensing your anxiety..dogs are very perceptive. anyway, I hope some of this helps...I'm not a pet psychiatrist or anything, but I know about animals.. i've been around them all my life, and I pretty much can read them sometimes. just try to relax with him, and pet him...that might help.. if not, maybe take him to the vet and tell him whats going on...maybe he could give him something to help him relax.

My dog did that a couple of times he kept on barking at the toilet bowl. Make sure everything is OK, make sure he's not trying to ssay anything..if he's just being obnoxious then just ignore and dont pay attention, he will eventually get tired and sleep. That's what my dog did. =)

It could be several things. . .I mean a BUNCH. I had a dog once that did that, and turned out my nephew was having seizures. if there is any change in teh environment, that could be it as well. Or even a critter outside the house. Just love him, pet him, and well, that is all I can offer. Good luck!

take him for a 45 minute walk, or do something that will physically make him tired, but not something that will promote more anxiety
