If you're in Ireland, you do need a licence. I'm surprised to learn you don't in U.K.
It's not that it costs very much - it's more that it feels like yet another stealth tax - we get nothing for paying it.
I hope you keep it abolished.

P.S. When I say we get nothing for it, I mean that if I thought the money from the licences was put towards animal shelters or animal welfare in any form, I'd be happy to pay it, but it seems to be just another type of revenue for the government.

it was abolished several years ago now,but to say that it will help keep track of owners,abandoned animals is daft,do you honestly believe that people that do not abide by the law,will bother to buy a license,they did not before,and will probably not now,it was one of the reasons it was stopped,

No we dont, but i think we should as this may help prevent animal crulety and abandonment. I fell it should be brought back and all proceeds given to rescue centers and the rspca etc x x x
