My brother is 17 years older than me so he has been on his own in the real world. But he had a problem with his roomate and moved in with my mom and me. I have a 3 year female yellow lab. He brought his 5 year old female yellow ab with him. They were doing fine. But on morning I was sitting on the floor watching tv and his dog lept at my dog. My dog attacked back and now they both are in seperate rooms with big bloody scars. I want my brother to feel welcome and I dont want him to move out just because our dogs dont get along. I dont want the dogs to have to stay in seperate rooms. How can I get them to play nicely with each other without them fighting?

I have a 2 year old Malinois that just NEVER seems to get tired. If I throw the ball 100 times, she brings it back 101 times. She also does these insane acrobatics in any attempt to catch the ball. Is there any chance of her hurting herself or does she know her limits?

Yes, you read that right. My Yorkshire/scottish mix is a bit insecure but also has an agressive side. She barks and lunges at various people and passerbys but when someone kneals down to pet her she wets. I have to constantly remind guests to ignore her upon entering my house because if they give her attention she'll submissively pee. (she only barks and lunges until the point of meeting them, then she's fine). She is a very smart dog and heeds my commands well (sit, down, roll over, stay all without hesitation). She goes for long walks and heels well other than an occasional lunge or bark with children are rushing around or another dog is barking at her.
I have tried punishment and I have tried ignoring it (the ignoring it thing has reduced accidents which is good) but nothing completely stops this behavior. Does anyone have any ideas?

My 14 yr old diabetic dog (who is also blind) eye is swollen and was sealed shut when I came home from work. I called Vet IMMEDIATLY and told them what had happened. They said just bring her in tomorrow morning it doesnt sound serious, but I am worried. What would cause her eye to swell and look as if its pushing forward? I put a warm compress on, and the eye opened a bit more. Has anyone else's dog ever had that happen? I think its more than an eye infection. Last night she was trying to paw and would wimper, but after checking her out I found nothing, until today. Am I being over dramatic, or should I just take her to the emergency clinic tonight?

FYI She is eating and drinking as normally..Thanks!

My dog is the epitome of annoying. I can never get her to stop barking and she bites at people's feet. She doesn't know when to stop and I'm starting to hate her. I don't have any money for lessons and I'm lost...What should I do?

And then cry about it when they have a problem dog on their hands?

In order to be the alpha you have to be stern! You have to constantly put the dog in it's place. You're not hurting it's feelings by correcting it. Dogs WANT that from their alpha!

You have to establish it's place in the pack and that place better be BELOW you!

I spoil my dogs, but they know darn well that I'm in charge. They get to sleep on the bed, they go everywhere with us, they get a ton a of treats, etc. etc. but when I tell one of them to get in the tub for a bath, whether they like it or not....they LISTEN!

I put her outside for about 15 minutes if she pees or poops in the house, and she just sits at the door and barks constantly. Then, if I put her on a leash to go for a walk, I have to pull her the whole way. Will she get used to this stuff after a while?

I'm researching small breed dogs for my family, I have an Akita Shepard mix who is well socialized & loves small dogs will be having a family in the next 5 years, I want to have my pets established for the early days...lol. Anyway, this breed looks interesting but I'd love to know any personal experience you have with the breed. We are a very active family, hiking, backpacking, camping etc. The small dog would go with us but be catered to, as in stuck in a pack when she got tired, sleeps inside the tent with us...etc...

We found this Pit Bull a few weeks ago in bad shape, she was very emanciated and looked like she had been in a dog fight. For the first week she just stayed to herself. Now she has warmed up to everyone except my dad. When he calls her she just walks away. And he was the first to actually spot her and give her some food. I was thinking she doesn't like men but my 12 yr old nephew came over and she is fine with him. What could be the problem?

When I was a child growing up we always had a dog. Anyway the other day I went to the pet shop and saw this cute adorable puppy. At the time I was just looking around, but now I decided that I would love to have a little companion. I was told that its best to adopt. What is the process of adopting? how much is the pay, do i have to report to somebody?

Also , pet owners is caring for a dog hardwork? I want a medium to small dog that doesn't get so big. Its been a while since I cared for another animal and I am not aware of the responsiblity can you give me some feedback with your experience? I'm thinking of maybe getting something like a puggle.

I walk a 9 month old mongrel for a couple of friends of mine who are out to work during the day. He is a lovely dog and is great when he is let of the lead to play. As long as there are no distractions he will come back. How-ever, if he so much as catches sight of another person and especially another dog he is gone. He loves to go off and play and no matter what the treat is that I offer to try and get him back he completely ignores me. This also happens with his owners.
Can anyone advize as to how I get him to respond to my command to come back. !!

She is around her due date. Her temp has dropped today to 98.78 and she has been panting. She has also has gone off her food and is resting alot. I thought that this may be the first stage but maybe not as her temp has remained the same but panting has stopped. Will her temp drop more? Should she be panting more often? My vet is waiting on standby should i need him. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a neighbour / friend who has several dogs. She does not have them fixed, and though they aren't supposed to be lose, they often roam the neighbourhood. No one really complains because they are small dogs and are not aggressive with anything. Someone told me she is a backyard breeder, which I have learned means someone who breeds their dogs for "fun" or to sell the puppies, but they are dogs without pedigrees or papers etc, and it contributes to the pet overpopulation. What are your thoughts on this?
Before, I never saw anything wrong with it. She is nice, loves the pups and tries to find them all homes, but the most I see about this, the more I dislike what she is doing.
I would like to help convince her to get her dogs fixed, also.

Well she is actually a puppy...about 4 months old....

Please do not report as I am being very serious....

I can not get her to quit humping our male cat. She is a boston terrier/jack russell mix and weighs about 4 pounds. She will not stop humping our grown make cat. My son who is 6 thinks that it's the funniest...but I am not so amused. What's worse is the cat sits there and lets her do it.

This cat is about 5 times her size...he is huge...but she doesn't care...

What is this all about...and how do I get her to stop? She seems to do it every chance she gets....
