I know this is a LONG SHOT, but last night around 5:30 my Black Lab got out of our backyard. My husband & I searched for him in the rain & wind for 3 hours. With no luck in finding him we spent the entire morning and afternoon going to the local animal shelters looking for him. I have posted messages on Craigslist.com and all the PetFinders.com listings as well as the animal shelters. If anyone lives in Murrieta California and has seen a dog resembling Dakota please e-mail me at SoCalMaMaX5@yahoo.com. He is very special to us and a great part of our family. Thank you.

Dakota-7 years old-pure black thick coat with a long bushy tail. He is a Lab mix w/Husky-he looks all Lab though.

Thanks again-like I said it's a long shot-but if it brings him home then I am in debt to you.

I went to the shelter today looking to adopt another dog as a playmate for my Lab puppy. I found the perfect dog and she is on hold for me, Australian Shepherd mix. Beautiful and sweet dog and yes I know about the breed - I need a high energy dog to keep up with my high energy Lab and that I can run with along with my Lab. My question is, when I first went in there was a 10 month old puppy just laying in the cage. I thought he was sleepy until I came back to him and noticed his nose was literally covered in yellow goop that was dripping from him and his eyes were open but he didn't respond well. I called it to the attention of the worker and they immediately took him back to the vet room. So, should I wait awhile to adopt from there to ensure that the dog on hold is not sick as well or go through with it? They will only hold her for 24 hours until they put her back out for open adoption and she is great dog. But I don't know what to think. Serious answers only please!!

What kind of dog do you have? I have been waiting all my life to get a dog, i am 21. I have been researching ALL kinds of dog breeds since i was young. I live in an appartment now, and also can't afford a dog at this point. But i have been doing research on all kinds of different breeds. My favorites are pit bulls, bulldogs, boxers, bull terriers, boston terriers, mastiffs, and though i have had a few bad experiences with rottweilers, i have met a LOT of nice ones at the vet clinic where i work. Also mixed breed dogs similar to these breeds. I like large short coated dogs who are very friendly, able to be playful and energetic, but also layed back when we are relaxing at home. I have found these dogs to fit my needs and personality. I was just wondering what kind of dog you have and why you chose that dog.

Ok a few weeks ago I went to the library. Along the way i encountered a leashed dog being walked. This dog acted very strangel. It wasn't super crazy aggressive like a rabid animals, but I suspected that it might have had it because the animal tried to move toward but was restrained by the leash size. I quickly walked past it and after I turned back to look at it, it was pulling on a flower. The owner didn't even look to bothered. I am worried that the dog might have "spit" on my pants as I walked by, and that I accidntally may have touched the spit on my pants and then touched my mouth. Is it possible to develop rabies from this? Please give in your input. I live in an area of the US that requires rabies vaccination.

I've finally decided that I want to become a dog trainer. And I was just wondering how much money can you make? I really would love to do this, and basically wondering if I am going to need another job, or can I solely rely on this.
Thanks!

My family has a 14 year old Yorkshire Terrior. He is extremely overweight (16 pounds) and blind. There are also odd growths on the top of his skin, like tumors (they apparently are not painful to him though) and he had kidney stones earlier in his life. He was also neutered when he got the kidney stones taken out. Over the past 3 or 4 months, it's been downhill, he will not take walks and refuses to bark at the door when he needs to go outside to do his business, which means he's constantly going to the bathroom in the house, on the carpet, everywhere, missing the puppy pads we bought for him. He has diarrhea and it smells horrible. He doesn't have any stamina and sleeps all day long. My family certainly doesn't want to put him down because we love him, but should we wait until he dies naturally? or put him down?

With the celebrity adoption craze reaching an all-time high, maybe we should take a cue from the propagators of the designer dog craze and start breeding designer kids.

Just think... we could start by paying, oh, say, Egyptians to breed with Pakistanis. We'd give their offspring a cute name like Egypistanis or Pakigyptians, and start hawking them to celebrities.

"Why, yes, Miss Jolie... the Egyptistani are a new race. They're extremely rare, so, of course, we'll have to charge you quite a bit higher of an adoption fee than usual. No, no... they absolutely have the best characteristics of both races. That's right... and best of all, they're hypoallergenic!"

I think I'm on to something... what do you guys think?

I live in an apartment and my next door neighbors rescued a pitbull about a week ago.I share a backyard with these neighbors, and of course my dogs go out there. My dogs haven't met the pitbull yet,but my lab mix is weird, and growls at people, and the neighbors have kids.I know pitbulls are loyal and protective. What should I do?Also,do you think that when I go outside the dog will think I'm in it's territory, and feel threatened? Thanks for all answers!
