Yes, there are several human antihistamines that dogs can safely take.
Call your vet and they can tell you a safe dose for your dog depending on his weight and physical health.
Do not give anything without talking to your vet first though, as some dogs can have reactions to even the safest medication if there is an underlying problem.

Your dog may have a food allergy, which is very common. You'll need to address what he/she is allergic to before you give your pup medication.
A common course of treatment can consist of pregnazone (a stereoid) to help with inflammation and creams. Again, this all depends on the allergy first.
Most common allergies are with food. Your pup may be allergic to wheat or yeast. Talk to your vet about this, as they have diets that can be started and then regular foods can be introduced once certain ones have been ruled out.
Good luck!

NEVER give an animal something that is intended for humans!
NEVER EVER!!
Not only are you not a doctor and the medication is maybe not what your pets needs, but animals have different medical needs than we do. It would be a medical miracle if your dog actually had allergies. Your dog probably has a cold.
If your dog is sick, you need to go to a vet for proper medication - if he needs it.

98% of the medication given to dogs, are human medications.
I'm guessing that you're asking about an anti-histamine. If so, Benadryl, is a common allergy medicine. It is okay to give it to a dog, but not before checking with a veterinarian, as only he/she can determine if your dog's symptoms could be treated with this type of allergy medication, and what dosage should be given.

I was told by the vet to buy piriton over the counter & he gave me the correct dosage to give my dog. She only needs them throughout the summer months. I think it is fine to give them to your dog just make sure you ask the vet first for the correct dosage. My dog suffers from terrible allergies & we are getting her spade so not to pass on to any other pups/dogs. Good luck and keep perservering, & maybe change your vet if he won't help .x

No, you can't give your dog anti-histamines meant for humans. You have to go to the vet and pay 50 times more for medication for your pet.

You must consult your vet before administering any medicine to an animal. Homoeopathic remedies have had good results when treating allergies.

do you mean anti histamines? You should NEVER give your dog ANY human medication without first discussing the problem with a vet.
