No, you would not get rabies from any saliva on your pants leg.
As skunks, bats and raccoons are the major carriers of rabies, we would all be dead if we brushed on any bushes that wildlife has brushed their faces on..and we don't every get it that way..not from spit on an object.

I seriously doubt the dog was rabid. And I think you're safe even if it was. Rabid animals arent' simply aggressive... they're madly aggressive! The dog you describe just sounds like it's in need of some proper training by its owner. If the dog snarled or snapped at you, I'd say the owner needs to do some serious socialization with the dog in a more controlled setting before taking the dog out in public. However, if the dog simply "moved toward" you... that's just typical doggie curiosity. Dogs always want to sniff stuff when it offers a new scent. Dogs almost always make at least some attempt to do this to passing strangers... especially dogs who are not taught otherwise.

l guess you could get rabies that way. But a dog does not spit to be spitting. It drools. but no that dog did not have rabies because it would not be led on a leash to start with. so cool down.you are okay. and if the dog was not barking when it was pulling towards you then it's my guess it was just smelling you and try to be friends

I seriously don't think the dog had rabies. He was probably just a little on the aggressive side and was probably a breed that slobbers a lot. I wouldn't worry about it. If he had rabies he would have been attacking his owner. The disease affects their brain and they die within a matter of days. So rest easy and don't worry about it. :)

This is the third time you have asked this question. The answer is still the same. The dog likely did not have rabies. You surely did not get rabies. Relax, and stop asking the same question because it is against Yahoo policy.

If the dogs saliva got into an open wound in your mouth OR the saliva got into your eye then you MIGHT have gotten rabies but usually a dog that has rabies wouldn't show mercy to its owner. Rabies usu. shows a change in a dogs behaivor, they could be really agressive or really out of it.

First of all, you will not develop rabies from this. The spray of salvia has to contact your mucous membranes. That does not even guarantee it.
Secondly, I highly doubt this was a rabid dog. The dog itself may have been aggressive and untrained-and may not be safe to have in public- but does not sound rabid.

I wouldn't worry about it. Here's some info for you:
Rabies is a serious viral disease that affects the central nervous system. It typically spreads by way of the saliva of infected animals — often, but not always, through a bite.
Once you're infected, the virus spreads from your muscle to your peripheral nerves to your spinal cord and brain. From initial flu-like signs and symptoms, the illness progresses to convulsions, hallucinations, paralysis or breathing failure and almost always death once the infection is established. It's important to seek treatment immediately after exposure.

I don't think you have rabies, it would have showed by now. The dog was probably just curious, I know my dog is the same way. Plus, if the dog isn't dead and you aren't dead, you know that you and the dog do not have rabies.

Rabies is blood borne, not through saliva. Even if you touched the spit, it was probably dry by the time you touched it. This animal doesn't seem particularly rabid from your description, mostly just hyper.
