Their senses are a little bit different from ours, so their dreams are full of stimuli they are more accustomed to, such as smells and tastes and such. They usually tend to either dream of happy times, playing freely in open spaces, or have nightmares about being chased or hurt. To them the biggest protector in their world is their owner. You can tell this because if you put your open palm near your dog's nose when they have a nightmare, when they smell your palm, they calm down immediately - and in some cases where the dream is they are being chased or similar, you may even see signs of them now doing the chasing.

I don't know about the way that they think, but I guess they associate things that they see, smell, or hear with pictures in their head.

My guess is they dream of just running and having a good time, or they have nightmares.

Once my dog was having a nightmare. Talk about funny. She would snore, then whine, then snore, etc.

The same as anyone. The subconscious dreams during deep sleep. As for what they dream about, probably things they do such as run, jump, play, catch animals, etc.

Most certainly just as we do, with sound and visual.

My little Scottie is slaying dragons in his sleep!! He must be as he is really working hard to get some monster under control.

It is very funny to watch and listen to him.
