No, dogs are a very personal choice and she needs to select both the breed and puppy herself. What you could do is offer a puppy as a gift, but don't buy it, just go with her to pick it out and pay for it. Besides, are you totally sure she wants a puppy in her life right now - they're a huge time commitment!

Is she ready to be responsible for an animal that requires lots of love and attention? Does she mind potty "accidents" and chewed up shoes? Does she have her own home, or share with roommates? Think about these things when making your decision. It's not like buying her a purse she can return to the store or toss in the closet if she doesn't want it.

pets aren't a good idea for gifts. At first they work (and work well since what woman doesn't like a puppy?), but then they realize the responsibility. That, and a pet is a personal thing, so if you do end up deciding to get a puppy for her, make sure you know its the right type.

Sadly, that could be a bad choice for her and the puppy. They are cute at first, but they chew and need potty training etc. If you do, take your girl friend to an animal shelter with you and make sure she knows about the resposibilities of caring for a living creature.

No the best gift would be to take her to get her own puppy. One that she immediately falls in love with. And I'd suggest trying the SPCA to adopt a puppy. Its cheap and a wonderful thing to do. There are too many pound puppies!

You want to go all the way to Hawaii just to buy a puppy for your girlfriend, that's really love.

Yes ! and to take it a step further you could also get involved as apuppy raiser for the blind. They furnish the pups, but you get to raise trhem they go EVERYWHERE that she goes. The law says so.
Try going to Guide Dogs For the Blind.com They are fun my wife is blind she has a service animal, but being around the pups is great to.

No. Buying a pet is a serious decision that cannot be made for someone else. She has to be willing and able to care for the animal for up to 20 years, depensing on the breed. Many, many pets end up in shelters or put down because they were gifts and their recipients couldn't keep them.

why would you buy it from hawaii?? Why not find one close to home that you can see before purchasing. Just remember dogs are TONS of work, make sure she really wants one, and is ready to take on all the responsibility

Would she be ready for the responsibility of a puppy? Would she have enough room to house a puppy, depending on what breed it is? These are all things that you have to take into consideration.
