I know this is a LONG SHOT, but last night around 5:30 my Black Lab got out of our backyard. My husband & I searched for him in the rain & wind for 3 hours. With no luck in finding him we spent the entire morning and afternoon going to the local animal shelters looking for him. I have posted messages on Craigslist.com and all the PetFinders.com listings as well as the animal shelters. If anyone lives in Murrieta California and has seen a dog resembling Dakota please e-mail me at SoCalMaMaX5@yahoo.com. He is very special to us and a great part of our family. Thank you.

Dakota-7 years old-pure black thick coat with a long bushy tail. He is a Lab mix w/Husky-he looks all Lab though.

Thanks again-like I said it's a long shot-but if it brings him home then I am in debt to you.

sorry I don't live there but you can set up a home in the backyard:

build a shelter and leave food and water inside, check it regularily, and with luck you might find your pet in the shelter.

Does your dog have a microchip or id tag? that will be much easier if he gets lost.

You can try posting adds in the local papers and try looking inareas where he knows well like places you go to on regular walks. If there is Dog park near your house then you can try posting up adds up there too.

good luck!!!

good luck...

knowing Labs and their appetite - I'd suggest checking around back alley garbage bins and the like.. he may well be doing an alley smorgasboard tour.. further to that, we lost a cat years ago in a downtown warehouse district - we found the homeless binner guys to be really nice, concerned and totally in to looking for the cat, esp. since they literally had the eyes on the street (of course, you'd want your HUSBAND to apporach these guys..)

.. a reward is always a great incentive..

again - good luck!

I can maybe give some tips....

-Put signs all over your neighborhood and city,
-There are usually stores that will let you put up signs too
-You can put ads in the newspaper
-Ask people if they have seen the dog
-Call for him when you can
-Try driving around calling his name

hope this helped
