They will either be black or yellow, and if either of the parents have chocolate color in there genes, you could get a chocolate puppy. But there is no other real way to be able to tell.

Check the pedigree. You will for sure get some yellow and some black, and if there is chocolate anywhere in the line you may get a few of those too. Best of luck with the puppies.

You'll probably end up with a litter of half black and half yellow if one of the parents is pure black and one of the parents is pure yellow. However, usually that's not the case. Both parents are probably mixed black and yellow in their heritages. If they're both AKC registered, look at the family tree they usually send you. You still won't be able to completely determine the litter's outcome, but you'll have a better idea!

If both parents are purebred then some of the pups would be yellow and some black. If one or both parents are a mix breed then some of that will likely show up in the pups.

Depending on the genes each dog carries you can get yellow, chocolate or black lab puppies from the same litter.

Check out this website about a yellow AND black lab puppy/dog. He was a rare puppie that got both colors!!! Very, very neat!!!

I'm sorry, was the cartoon channel blacked out?

Your friend knows very very little about breeding. Please have your dogs neutered and spayed.

The point of breeding is to breed out the defects and breed to the strengths of a breed. Trying to breed a different color into the line, if it were even possible, ruins that dog and its' line permanently.

By the way, yellow and black labs do not make chocolate labs. Only chocolate labs can make chocolate labs, or labs with a chocolate lab in it's recent lineage.

There is no way to predict the coloring. It all depends on the dam and sire's genes. You can get either yellow, chocolate, or black.

be prepared for mostly yellow and black, with the potential for some chocolate pups.

Hmmmm...maybe you can use a punnet square (if you know what it is). It shows al possibilities of the outcomesof a baby, plants, etc. Try searching it up or ask your science teacher about it, depending if you are already in junior high/high school. An elementary science teacher may not know what a punnet square is.
