I have a 9 month old pitbull and he does it too. I've heard its a pitbull thing, most do. every time my lil guy starts in i wake him up, shake him and flick his nose. Thats usually good for a nice 15 mins. Until he falls asleep again :) But its definitely normal. Mine snores when you rub his ears, i think its similar to a cat purring. It usually expresses content.

Well... My 6 year old Miniature Schnauzer snores. Lightly perhaps, but he does. Snoring and snorting is normal for people. It should be normal for your dog. And by the looks of some of the answers, a lot of dogs snore.
Yet, the snoring might be a medical problem. If it's bad, then get it checked out by a vet. A dog can snore due to allergies, cigarette smoke, and what you're feeding him with.

I have three Pit Bull Mixes and an old Lab, all four of them snore, but the pits are the worst. The Lab only started snoring after he turned 9, so I think it's old age. But all of the pits have snored from the day we got them and boy do they snore! I don't have any idea why they would do this, maybe its something about the breed. Enjoy your Pitt Bull, we love ours like crazy!

My dog snores, but it's pretty soft. He's a lab/shepherd mix. With dogs like Pitbulls and Pugs that have a flat face they are prone to respiratory problems, so I'm sure such snoring is not uncommon. Feel free to discuss the issue with your Vet and see if there's anything you can do to help your dog breathe better. I'm sure it's hard on him to snore like that!

hahaha, good greif yes, I used to have a miniature dachshund that would snore up a storm, in fact once when an uncle of mine was over at the house, the dog was really sawing logs and he asked what the noise was and my mother and I both answered that it was the dog and he was surprised that a dog snores and we acted like it was no big thing.

I'm going to get a chihuahua and I found out they snore (how cute) they snore because there nostrils are just too small so they open the moth when they sleep and eventually it causes them to snore, I tihnk it is just too adorable!

I have a German Pincher, not a Doberman, She is 5 years old and Ive noticed lately when she's in a deep sleep, she'll snore, whimper and drool. I believe its a normal sleep for her. I'm not to worried about it .She is very healthy and happy animal.

I have two old english bulldogs and they snore A LOT and LOUD, haha but i don't see anything wrong with it it is just because of the way thier noses are slightly shorter. i also believe they snort when they eat because they just get so excited. but i love it and wouldn't change anything bout them. haha, have fun!
