Question about my female dog...?

Well she is actually a puppy...about 4 months old....

Please do not report as I am being very serious....

I can not get her to quit humping our male cat. She is a boston terrier/jack russell mix and weighs about 4 pounds. She will not stop humping our grown make cat. My son who is 6 thinks that it's the funniest...but I am not so amused. What's worse is the cat sits there and lets her do it.

This cat is about 5 times her size...he is huge...but she doesn't care...

What is this all about...and how do I get her to stop? She seems to do it every chance she gets....

she is only 3-4 months old...do they go into heat the early??

I got talked into this dog by my son...I have always had cats...never had this problem before

She is trying to show the cat she is the boss. The humping is a dominance issue and has nothing ot do with being in heat or any kind of sexual issue.

Distracting her attention when you catch her, spray her with water, give her a time out, get her into obedience classes and most importantly get her spayed. She is old enough to get spayed now.

Just like little kids can be, dogs are curious about sex. When your dog is 5 months old, talk to your vet about having it spayed. That will probably help with the humping, but not always. She might simply be humping to show her dominance. Good luck!

P.S. Dogs don't usually go into heat until they are 6-8 months old, so I doubt she is in heat.

Your question is legit! All dogs and even some cats do this to establish DOMINANCE. All packs have leaders and this is one way that the leader establishes it's self in the pack.

An animal can be neutered very young but during "heat" The blood supply is too great to the uterus. It makes it more risky than most vets want to take.( This is not from C. Milan)

If there is no other dog in the house and your puppy isn't let outside, your dog may be trying to reproduce. I guess it's fine (even though a bit strange) as long as your puppy is spayed.

First, if you haven't already, get her spayed. Spaying will remove all the reproduction stress and life. You should then talk to the vet about this abnormal behavior. It might just be her age.

well to start with. it is a sign of affection. no she is not in heat. and having her fixed won't help it. l still have a dog that does that and we had her fixed a year ago. and l know it is embarrassing you. but you need to try harder to make her stop. l am a bad one to tell you to try harder when l have a dog that does the same thing. but l do stop her when l see her doing that.still have your dog fix. please, we do not need to add to the list of unwanted dogs.

tell your puppy NO and to stop every time you catch her, my puppy (5 mon gsd husky) had done it a few times with her pillow. They do it cause their hormones are so crazy right now as they grow, they dont know what they are doing

its normal..i would get her spayed and that should help it a bit..otherwise you just have to be firm with her..when you see her doing it, pull her back and say "NO"..if she does it again, pull her back and give her another firm "NO"..she'll catch on..shes young..mostly its just their animal instincts kicking in and thats what their made to do..shes just curious..she can't know its wrong unless you tell her..
