I live in Michigan where we can sometimes have alot of snow. I have a 5 week old puppy..I know too young to have had but It was from a shelter and the mom was gone so we took her. Anyways shes doing the potty training really well already. Shes smart as heck she wines when she needs to go out and everything the thing is we are suppose to get snows sometime soon and I am afraid its going to be too cold out there for her. But we have mad soo much progress already that I dont want to have to confine her inside to use the restroom, and on top of that she wont go on the pads she wants to go out side so what should I do when it snows here? Make it a fast in and out? Or dont risk it?!

Reputable breeders only, please...

Do you advertise on the Web? I don't mean SELL on the Web, but do you have websites where people can get information about you, your dogs, your policies, etc. If you don't, why not?

I have an 85 pound male American Standard. He's the sweetest thing in the world, very cute too. My plight, we typically hold cute little puppies a lot. He recently turned two, being accustomed to being picked up and held, he really likes to sit in our laps. When I tell him (and I have to tell him firmly sometimes) to get down, he acts so pitiful and looks so rejected. I hate hurting his feelings, but I really need him to understand that's he is very heavy.

My 8 week puppy has had explosive diarhea for the last 4 days. Previously, his stool was nice and firm. He does not vomit and he is still very playful and energetic. He eats high-end chicken and rice kibble (Nature's Vareity) and drinks lots of water. Should I be worried? Also, he gets the hiccups after every meal. Appreciate your info.

A little puppy showed up at my door the other day so I took it in and fed it and what not. Its a really young pup so for the time being Im keeping him in a BIG box to keep the mess to a minimum. My question is how old does it need to be before I start trying to house train it and how do i go about doing it. Ive never had a puppy but Im probably going to keep him. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

And please, if Im doing something wrong do not be rude about it, just let me know in a nice manner, like I said Ive never had a dog before.

does anyone know a website that lists reputable breeders except akc and if you do know another website dont give me one when they just name all breeders they know, REPUTABLE. And if you dont know of one like that, just give me one that names all the one they know. It would be good if it was in newyork unless the website lets you pick your country.

Thanks in advance if you deserve a thanks.

I'm sorry to those people that think I was picking on the breed when I asked what I should do if a pitbull attacks. The only web site I fold was this one which was very helpful - http://zia.blogs.com/wastedbirthcontrol/2006/02/what_to_do_if_a.html
It was written by a pitbull owner and rescuer who knows that you can not always count on some owners to raise them correctly. After reading it, I wanted to know if anyone out there who owns, use to own, may have work with pitbulls could provide anymore information. It says that pitbull attacks are different than most dog attacks and does provide some answers. I am cautious with any dog around my daughter, and do know most dogs in our neighborhood already, but this is a new dog and I don't know the owner because they are new to the neighborhood. Sorry to offend, but I was only looking for answers. I would suggest to everyone to read this blog, it is informative.

About five months ago I bought a dog off of craigslist. Its an adorable little 1 1/2 y/o bichon frise. I was told he is housebroken. He so is NOT. I have gotten him up to date with his shots, vet checked, microchipped and we just LOVE him. But I can walk him for an hour and he will pee everywhere, never poop; then come inside and poop and pee. There has to be something I can do here. Please help. I love this dog but today he peed and pooped on my daughters white bed spread(it had fallen on the floor). I don't know how much more of this I can take!

we've had a female dog approx 6 months, approx just over 1yr old -patterdale terrier cross whippet. We have another patterdale (dog). same age. Ellie is so scared off everything. She is always cowering and if you drop something or a door slams she freaks and hides. If you approach her she cowers like you are going to strike her and if if pick her up she goes stiff. On the other hand she loves to be close to me and follows me everywhere. she loves her cuddles. She also still urinates sometimes in the house. Patterdales are supposed to be working dogs but the farm she came from said she wouldn't kill anything so they sent her to rescue farm. My vet said give her time but it's been six months and i can't just hang around, i want to help her. She's a different dog when we walk her. very playful etc I don't remember her being this scared of strangers when i went to view her at the rescue centre (as we were new to her then). am i doing something wrong? how can i get her to trust us?

We brought our 2 year old Sheltie home from a breeders house yesterday and as soon as I opened the door she bolted down the street. My first instinct was to chase her which I know is wrong. She just kept running.

We hade neighbors help search through the neighborhood and eventually gave up looking last night. We had a towel and bone that the breeder gave us with her scent on it and I laid it down on our front porch with food and water. I looked outside at 6 this morning and she was laying out there.

I tried sneaking around the back but as soon as she saw me she ran again. I didn't chase her this time but just sat down on the ground. 30 minutes later she came back and now I am not sure what I should do. I am waiting for my vet to open to see if I can get a trap or tranquilizer. Any sugestions would be appreciated.

It is actually my boyfriends dog, we moved into an appartment together two months ago, and she pee's everywhere! I have raised 4 dogs before her and never had this much trouble. she is almost 2yrs old, he got her when she was about 8months old, she wasnt potty trained then either. I have tried to get him to disiplyn her but he wont, that is what I think the problem is. What I do is when I catch her in the act I firmly say "No" or "Bad Dog" and such, then I put her nose near it and say "No" again, then tap her on the butt and point at the door and say "outside". Then she imediatly goes to the door and waits for her leash to be put on. but when we get outside. if I stop she just lies down, and if I keep walking she just wont go. I usually then take her back inside and just try to keep a close eye on her. I am even having a vet come and check her out soon to see if it is a medical problem.

Help plz, I am desperate and about given up!
