A lot of them are shedding right now, it's the weird weather.
Unless she starts going bald or showing other signs of ill-health, just keep brushing and wait for the worst of it to pass.

I live in the North East, we own 2 Bernese Mountain dogs ages 6 and 4. One was imported from Amsterdam Holland and the other from Massachusetts. Both dogs shed year round. Our first Berner also used to shed year round. Our dogs have a wonderful diet, go to the vet regularly and also go to the groomers. We brush and vacuum them regularly.
We used to own a Newfoundland dog, she also shed year round. Dogs with a thick undercoat will shed the old coat to make room for the new growth of undercoat insulation. The outer hair is black and some of it is about 3" long so along with the cotton like undercoat It looks like tumbleweeds if the fan blows it across the floor. Shedding is something we took in to account when we decided to get the dogs. Recently. we were toying with the thought of getting the "Roomba" an automatic vacuum robot but we think it would clog. i vacuume evrey day. I tell ya though, shop vacs work great and the dogs look forward to being vacuumed then brushed. (just like my horses lol)
If extra shedding is not something your dog has normally done in the past, a quick trip to the vet may help you find out if there is any underlying cause for the extra shed. Flea allergy, skin problems, diet and stress to name a few can make them shed also. Good Luck!!

I will go along with everyone that attributes the shedding to the weather. There are a couple of things you should consider, also. What type of dog food are you feeding? Is your dog more active than usual? Sometimes excessive shedding can be an early indication of poor nutrition. Look at the fat and protein content of your feed. Also, check the ingredient label. Excessive amounts of ground yellow corn are typically not conducive of terrific dog food. If this degree of shedding is totally out of character for your dog, I would schedule a vet appointment asap. If the vet determines that everything is generally okay, an undercoat rake and possibly a shedding blade would be my options. Just remember to be gentle with both products, especially over the spine and joints.
Best Wishes!

There is a way to keep the shedding to a minimum. ( like everyone said this kooky weather has animals in a disaray)
You can wash her, and while she's still slightly damp, comb her hair on her back and sides towards the front ( like slicking a mans hair back) and then section by section, comb the hairs out firmly, but gently. They have special dog brushes that are made for shedding animals.
Let her air dry then when shes done and dry, give her a good once over. If shes still shedding after that, see if shes been scratching alot ( you know biting her skin to itch) That can cause her dermis ( the skin layer that holds the hair) to become irritated and all her hair to fall out.
Good lucK!

The last thing that I want to add here is that if a dog is living in the house year round, they will shed more then dogs that live outside. Other then that, welcome to the world of dogs where pretty much everything has some kind of dog hair on it and some of us will travel with one of those sticky roll things to run over our clothes, just to make sure.

I have a husky and she used to shed pretty often till i added ShedX (its a dietary supplement) to her food and now she sheds much less (though she still sheds). If you really want to control the shedding, you'll have to start combing it every day, and of course use ShedX. It works!

My dogs have been shedding like crazy too. I think it's because they built up their winter coats, but it's been so warm that they're starting their spring shed already.
Keep her brushed and keep plenty of lint rollers nearby!

This is hard to respond to without knowing how the season changes where you live, how old your dog is, the actual breed of your dog. I'll take a shot in the dark however, take her to the vet if this is totally unsual for her. Don't overlook the grooming, though.

What shampoo do you use on the dog? Certain shampoos have been known to cause dogs to shed.
