Once, when visiting cousins, we took our puppy from the front yard through the house to the back yard. The cat, seemingly came out of nowhere and attacked our poor puppy! He was definitely no threat to the cat. While the dog was a little bigger, he hadn't even known a cat was in the house. In fact, I don't think he even knew what a cat was at that point.

Yes, they go for the dogs nose(It's most sensative bit)and as long as the cat doesn't turn it's back to the dog the cat will always win.It is not so if the dog approaches from the cats rear, the dog wins then as they bite the cat on the back of the neck.

I have seen that. A cat establishes it's territory which is usually your house and garden. Any animal which does not belong there the cat may well see as a threat and attack it. Most dogs know that a cat has very sharp claws and if faced with an angry cat defending it's territory will just back off

I have a golden retriever that was attacked by 2 ferrel cats a few years ago, I was hysterical, never in my life have I seen anything so vicious before, they scratched her so badly round her nose they left their claws behind, thankfully she was fine after a few visits to the vets and the ferrel cats were taken away, wouldn't want to see anything like that ever again, it hasn't put her off cats but it has me, always been a bit scared of pussycats and now I am terrified of them.

Hi,
It isn't uncommon for a cat to ride a dog right out of its yard. I have had 2 that did that, and the dog got the worst of it. I have one now, that will not tolerate strange dogs, yet she gets along with my 4 dogs. This cat also weighs a hefty 21 pounds, certainly not a small Kitty.

We have a black cat name "Winky" he was a stray and i took him home. well we have a basenji and a mix breed dog and they sometimes get into it for no reason( i think its because they play to hard with each other or something and one just gets pissed). well the cat runs up and attacks the mutt then runs to the corner of the house, and then does it like 3 or four times in a row. i dont know it the cat is trying to break up the dog fight or what but its pretty funny.

yep, It wasnt really an attack though
i had a HUGE dog it was fat and very strong, and a kitten came in one dayand came up to him and wanted to play, then my dog was so frighten he jump and scared the cat the can accidently sractched him and the dog ran under the house and stared there until we caught the kitten and took it to the owner ( down the road ). It was so funny, ever since then when my dog saw a cat he would cry and we would have to come and scare it away.

yes i have
i had this black and white cat when i was a child he was something else
the dog up the road from us would go round chasing all the cats in the neighbourhood until he met my cat
my cat attack him so badly that he ended up down the vets being stitched up
his ear was almost hanging off and he had a nasty gash on his back by his tail
I've been told that a cat can kill a dog since
looking back to what happened i think the dog was lucky my cat didn't kill him

Yes we had a beagle that would not leave the cat alone and the cat swated at the beagle and one of the cats claws pulled out and was stuck in the beagles nose we had to pull it out. Needless to say the beagle did'nt get too close the that cat again.

Yes, we have a BIG black neutered tom on the farm who will stand up to any dog, my little Border Collie when I first got him a year ago saw Big Ears and thought 'great' easy game and took off after him........................BIG mistake the dog came rushing back to me tail between his legs and a scratch on the end of his nose...he won't do that again, in fact we saw Big Ears today on our walk first thing and Harvey (my dog) gave him a very wide berth! Lesson learned I think!!
