I give him a bath every three weeks. he is a 16 month old dog with short hair, pit bull breed. he has been scratching himself a lot lately. it is getting colder now, could it be because of the weather change? what should i do? is there a cream or something else i can use to moisten his skin? I'm worried that he will start breaking skin and cause a possible infection later.

I had asked a question yesterday about my Puppy. I brought him to the Vet and he is FULL Scottish Terrier. His colors are Black Brindle. So to all of you who said that it was absolutley not full breed.. Then I guess you were wrong...

Question is to all that have/had Scottish Terriers. Are they easy to train? And do you have tips on training these dogs? I have looked up sites and it tells me very little. Just thought someone would like to share their Scottie experiences! Thanks!

I posted an English Bulldog Wanted (willing to pay reasonable price, non-breeding or spayed preferred) ad and got flagged/removed. What's up with that?

I have been feeding my dog Purina Dog Chow for a while. He used to eat pedigree, but he decided he liked the Purina Dog Chow better, and they are both around the same price. So what do you all think about Purina Dog Chow? Is that a decent food to buy for your dog?

Thanks,
~Kyle

I have a 5 month old yorkie who was 90% pad trained...well things were going good until I had a friend keep him while i was out of town for a week....now since i've brought him home, he goes potty where ever he wants..even 5 inches from the pad...i dont know if i need to "retrain" him again (ugh) or if this is signs of a bladder infection. I left pee pads at my friends for him to use like normal, but i dont think that she enforced it as much..any ideas???

Friends of mine recently lost a *very* special pet to them last week. I have been putting off the phone call for lack of knowing what to say. I have no idea how to go about that conversation. Just saying "sorry for your loss" seems too impersonal. What's a good way to start the conversation and ease into offering my condolences?

We bought him a steel gage a couple months ago and have been putting him in there since we got it to stop him from ruining our house. He is One years old today and a Lab mix. We don't know what he is mixed with all we know is that he has a white spot on his chest and his paw. We bought him a big bed for the inside of the gage so he would be comfortable and still he wrecks the front of it trying to escape. We caught him biting it and bending the metal with his teeth, this is def. not good. Also he recently cut his leg somehow trying to escape the cage. Why would he be trying to do this? We would leave him out but he just destroys the house! We put bones and everything in there and he still destroys it we don't even leave for that long. Any help?

It is amazing that no big magazines, newspapers, or TV news shows have done a story on how puppy mill owners are raking in the BIG bucks by breeding sickly ultra-tiny dogs to fuel the latest designer-dog trend.
There are hundreds of internet puppmills and puppymill like breeders hiding behind cute websites. Yorkshire terriers are mostly targeted because they go from so much money. It is so important that people know that they shouldn’t buy online without going to the premises and agree with the living conditions for the dogs. People should support only good breeders. I have seen these poor things caged all their lives with filth all over them, bred every heat until they gladly greet their death.
I purchased my first yorkie from YORKIEBABIEDOLLS.COM from Don Montgomery. The picture on the site was of a healthy, very cute, tiny male. I asked him for references which he did provided from other owners from the same litter. I thought everything was ok. What I received at the air port was a 3 pound starved pup, ridden with coccidia, a second row of teeth, and in very poor health. But it gets worse; 2 months later he starts limping on his back leg. He was diagnosed with leg-calf Perthes disease and required a major surgery. This disease is inherited from this parents or someone in his parents line, I told Don about this yet he still breeds both the parents EVERY SINGLE HEAT!!!
He also has many many other female whom he breeds every heat they go into, and he thinks these kind of breeding practices are ok. He sells these poor puppies for around $3,000 each.
The AKC and other canine registries are partially to blame because they allow a dog to be registered to more then one litter a year. Once a year should only be allowed. In Australia this is done.
It keeps me up at night knowing that this kind of stuff is happening all over the net and thousands of dogs are living in hell, for what? For money? I don’t see how they can torture animals and get away with it. Please Please spread the word on this subject, and maybe we can put a stop to it.
