Kade? I wanted to name a baby that, but no boys. lol.
As to breed, I grew up around breeds and showing and such, and to tell you the truth I want a good ole american mutt. Each breed has particular risks for health, because they all pretty much come from same bloodlines, and intermingle, so a mutt has less chances of that. Medium size? Collies are actually great pets, can be indoor or out. Needs lots of brushing. They are not that smart, but very loyal and teachable- eager to please. Some bark. Protective too, esp of kids. Shelties are pretty much the same, though smaller, and tend to bark a bit more.

Sometime you can see a dog and know exactly what to name them by something about there manner or behavior, wait find the dog and it will come to you, I had a dog years ago that use to run threw the house and raise a lot of dust, I thought I was clean house keeper until then , well he got the name Dusty

Think about it. as soon as you see it, you will the know the name. and a good dog breed to get is an Old English Sheepdog. They are very friendly dogs, but they might get a little bigger then a collie, if it's a boy dog.

Go to your local animal shelter. Saving a dog is the ultimate reward. You will find a variety of pure and mixed breeds.
Your heart will pick one out. Your head doesnt need to.
As for names.....you have to see the baby first!!!!

How about J.D.( for Just Dog)? Or just watch him for a few days and come up with a name that suits him. I had a neighbor who named her dog Lefty because he had a left white foot. I thought that was cute.
