How long after a pregnant female dog starts drawing milk will she have her pups? She is a St. Bernard. (I know, we need to get her fixed, but it is too late now, so we are going to the vet tomorrow, and we are going to find out around how many pups we're going to have.)

My boyfriend has recently tested posetive for HIV and it is my understanding that poz people should not live with unfixed pets due to the many diseases they are more easily suseptible to and able to pass along. My chiuaua is three years old and is not fixed for breeding purposes. We don't have the money to get him fixed in San Francisco... WHAT CAN WE DO?

She used to be overweight but we've trimmed her up with less food and more exercise. Now I've noticed a bump (about the size of a small egg) on her ribcage. It actually feels like it's under her ribs. It doesn't seem to be getting bigger, but it's hard to tell. It is painless to her, from what I can tell. What is the probability that it's harmless? She is a black lab/shepherd mix and is almost 8 yrs old and weighs 54lbs. She takes Chlomipramine for separation anxiety and has been taking that for a year.
If I do have to take her to the vet, what will they do and how much do you think it will cost?

Our neighbors are super people (best neighbors so far we've had). However they have two dogs, and one of their males loves pissing through the chain link fence (required cause of the green space) onto our yard. We never really cared about it until now, we just got our new 8 week old Husky and after the first initial introductions he got less scared of them. So everytime they are out together Zandar (our pup) goes to greet them and them the same. The one male that loves to pee through our fence tries to pee on our little one...I've gotten lucky and got him in the nic of time, almost getting myself wet in the process. We've voiced ourselves to our neighbors regarding this, but they don't seem to care. I don't feel like telling them off as we do like them. Is there anything we can do to stop this dog? ie: bitter apple, etc? I know I shouldn't be the one to train their dog, but they don't seem to want to...they just say he'll get you back one day...my response, no he won't learn that!

my dog is 3, and my disabled brother died 1 year ago. my brother had to lay on a mat on the floor every day, and my dog would play with him, and lay beside him and stuff frequently. (my dog is a long haired chihuahua by the way.) anyways, my dog has always been a big weirdo (lol), and alot of times it looks like he is just playing with his own shadow. like he'll be playing by himself/with himself. we've noticed tho, since my brother died, my dog will go over by where the mat used to be, and he'll just start playing like there is someone right in front of him. he'll get into his "play" position (looks like he is bowing) and he'll start barking his cute lil play barks and leaping forwards and backwards like someone is on the floor with him, playing with him.
is this just my dog being weird, or do you think that there is a chance that he could be playing with my brother?
i know that this is a stupid question, but i just had to ask.....

i'm getting a new dog and right now, its not being fed very good food. CHEAP, but not good. i did some research and found natural balance, it seems like a pretty good food. it sucks that its alil more expensive and i'll have to go to a specialty store, but i want my new dog to be happy and healthy. any of you have opinoins on natural balance. or would recommend something else that might be just as good?

I have a small long-coat chihuahua.

Recently her milk glands seem to be up but she is not producing any milk. I haven't seen any other maternal activities so i'm not thinking it is a phantom pregnancy. She has lost some weight recently but has been this weight before and the vet has said it was ok.
Appetite seems fine, no discharge.

I am a bit wary of the vets as a couple of weeks ago I took another dog there for a query and they ignored the reason I went completely and insisted on unnecessary blood tests.

I will take her to the vets if problem persists over the next few days but was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this before and could suggest what it could possibly be.

P.S Obviously I wont take any of the answers as medical fact as I know my dog will need examining so please don't just tell me I need to take her to the vets. I would just like a few possible explanations that are, hopefully, not too horrible and please no silly answers

Hint: I have a black lab with this name. She was the worst puppy ever but has slowly become one of the best dogs of all time. Her name starts with a 'K'. Whoever gets it first, with correct (german proununciation) spelling wins!

I have had several dogs and always given them fresh water to drink, but my Austrialian Shepherd prefers to drink from the pool, even though he has fresh water.
