Is the dog AKC registered? If so, unfortunately, the litter's owner is the only person who can request another copy of the dog's registration. This is the information needed to make the request:
1. Litter Owner's Name, Address, and Signature with request for a duplicate dog registration application
2. Litter Number
3. Date of Birth
4. Breed
5. Sex of your puppy
6. $15.00 processing fee (the money can come from anyone)
You would send this to the American Kennel Club in Raleigh, NC.

There's great additional information on the AKC website: http://www.akc.org/contact/answer_center/

good to hear dozer is well! my wife and I each brought pets to our marriage, adopted one more a week after burying my 14 year old golden retriever (best dog in the world). the adoptee, "hannah" had been abandoned by a couple that broke up and moved out of their rental home leaving 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a tank of fish behind without food or water. It took us 2 years to find hannah a forever home & we still have 7 dogs on a 1 acre lot to care for. there are ways to feed and care for them without breaking the bank or feeding low quality food, & we use them all. affording food is one problem, another is the housing market,...I have heard too many stories from friends and peers about these issues & work with local rescue agencies whenever we find a stray, (2 rescues in the last 6 weeks for us). my wife had an aquaintance tell her we would not have the kind of money stress we have if we got rid of all our dogs (obviously the dingbat does not understand that the dogs are family & what she suggested was the same as saying we should kick out our teenagers).

It depends on what registry it is. You will probably have to go to the previous owner, of the breeder if you can find them. If you are not wanting to breed and your dog is fixed, you can have you dog ILP (Indefinite Listing Privilege) registered with AKC. It allows you to compete in agility, obedience, etc.; basically everything except for conformation.

Write AKC and find out if your dog is listed with them, he/she should be if he/she has "papers". They can probably send you new copies, for a fee of course.

Contact the AKC and report them. They may be able to give you more information. Have your dog microchipped

you can contact the canine council but in Australia you also have to get a "sign over" of ownership. Good luck.

You should have received them at the same time you got your dog. You might try writing www.akc.org (american kennel club) and ask them.
