I agreee with the person above that said it was because they were lacking nutrition. The only reasons that a dog will eat poo is either because it's not theirs and they want to get the other dog's scent off of the place, or they're not getting enough nutrition.

If they're not getting enough nutrition (which is probably the case) you can try a number of things. What kind of food are you feeding them? If you're feeding them something that you buy at the grocery store, that could eb the problem. Go to your local pet store and ask them to reccomend a food for your dogs.

If you're already feeding them a good food, then you could try supplementing their diet with a product called "Missing Link." It's available in most pet stores in the isle with vitimins and those sort of things. It'll help give them the nutrients that they may be missing in their diet, since there is no one food that will be able to fulfill all of their needs completely.

Good luck!

Sometimes dogs eat their own poop because they need more nutrtion..try a diffrent type of food for them. And see if anything changes. Dogs also eat their own poop or even eat grass when they do not give them enough nutrtion.
You may also pick up after them more frequently...but yes that does tend to become a nusence. Or ask your vet., dogs eating their own poop can be harmful. But i'd check to make sure.

Better their own poop than yours. Seriously, there is something that you can get from the vet that you pour ontop of their poop. I don't really know what it is, just that it's a powder. That should stop them from doing it. Please don't give your dog rawhide- that's bad advice! Not to state the obvious, but the cheapest way to deal with this is to pick up their poop more often. I know that's not always possible for most people. Good Luck!

1. Try adding a tablespoon or two of canned pumpkin to their food every day. This will help make the poop smell less tasty to them.

2. Pick up the poop more often.

You can use meat tenderizer in their food. Your vet or local pet supply store should sell something to give them in their food. Your vet should always be available to answer your questions too!
