My dad wants to get one of those shock collars for his dog. I think it's cruel and told him if he gets one then he should be willing to wear it for a while. Do shock collars work or are they just barbaric?

My dog is a mid- sized, mid-aged australian cattle dog mix and loves to run. However, anytime after, her right hip becomes painful enough where she has to limp around. She loves/needs to exercise, and I'm wondering if there is any therapy for her to help her with any pain.

There has been a lot of media attention lately to accidents happening at the grooming shops. None of which really get the other side of the story.

I am a groomer and talk to many other groomers via the internet. There have been a few that were dragged through the mud by the press for a dog dying or being injured in thier shops. I'm not defending irresponsible or neglect by a groomer. I take the safety of any dog in my care very seriously. But I have heard a couple of groomer's sides that say the pets had pre existing conditions that just the stress of grooming unknowingly worsened . Those are the sides you don't hear on the news.

Government licensing has come up and has been heavily debated by groomers. Many feel the government will just collect thier fees, forcing groomers to raise prices and not really weed out the bad or irresposible groomers. Others think it will raise standards and add respectabilty to our profession. What do pet owners think?

This morning, I noticed tapeworms in my foster-puppy's stool. I got a couple of Droncit tabs from my vet and gave them to her this morning. How long should it take for the medication to start working? While I doubt the dead worms will come shooting wildly from her behind in a fantastic display of the medicine's effectiveness, I'd kinda like to know what to expect :D

I have a 10 month old Labrador that keeps on digging holes in my yard. It keeps on digging on 2 to 3 specific spots. I've tried everything and it keeps going back to dig. So now I keep it locked up most of the time in a kennel. Is there a way to discipline this dog so it will stop destroying my yard?
