Oh yes this is an allergic reaction. My Yorkies would do that all the time before we switched dog food. A lot of dogs will also chew their paws and nails with an allergic reaction. I would stop the treats. If the behavior stops completely then you have solved the problem. If not, he may even be allergic to his food. My dogs were allergic to their food and I had to switch to a prescription diet- Hills Prescription Diet for Allergy Prone Dogs type Ultra Z/D.

Don't worry. I think he will be ok. He is just itchy and his skin may be irritated. When bathing him you may want to use a shampoo that has oatmeal. That helps a lot with allergy dogs. Also, you can give him Benadryl. The liquid works well. I am not sure about the dosage. You should check with your Vet. It helped my dogs until the reaction stopped.

That is a classic allergic reaction. Look at the ingredients on the treats. A lot of dogs are allergic to things like corn, wheat, some are even allergic to chicken, lamb, duck or some other source of protien. Stop feeding the treats and he should stop, if he doesn't go to the vet.

My cousin has a pug and he had allergies and thats how he acted, she had to take him to a all naturel vet and he put him on a special diet.
Now he is fine, don't be surprised if it is wheat or corn because that is not in a dogs natural diet in the wild so there systems can't handle them, some have learned to adjust but some just can't tolerate it.

Good luck
