Your dog doesn't like your friend for a reason. he doesn't feel secure or safe with your friend. Me personally if my dog doesn't like you I trust that there is somethin in your personality not to trust. they're very good judges of character. don't force him

Although dog's insticts are more highly developed than ours, I wouldn't use your dog's behavior as a guide to judging a person. I have one that doesn't appreciate every body as much as they appreciate her.

You got some really good advice about having your friend feed the dog. But I wouldn't push her to play with him right away. Hugs are viewed very differently by dogs than they are by us, she probably won't like having him in her face.

Have your friend offer her food out of his hand. If she backs away or growls have him calmly put it down and walk away. That way she feels no pressure with him watching or hovering near.

Another thing you may try is have him take her for a short walk by himself. You put her leash on and have him take her out. Have him praise her big time when she starts walking with him without hesitation. But again, no pressure, make sure he doesn't lean over her even to pet her. If he feels like she may be warming up to him tell him to crouch down to her level but let her come to him. Some dogs just need to warm up to people on their own terms.

it's just a matter of the dog (ad your friends) personality. maybe there's something about your friend that the dog doesn't like!
