i like english bulldogs, but i want a dog that i can play with and will have energy, will an english bulldog just sit around all day?

Generally, they are not a high energy breed. At all.
They make great companions, although many do not have long "play" periods. Don't expect long games of fetch, or frisbee!!
Sometimes it is due to a medical problem. Many have very elongated palates and along with the short muzzle, they have problems getting anough oxygen for activity!!!

possibly you probably did not do your breed study and once you purchase a puppy because of its looks - you eventually end up with all sorts of questions because you probably did not make an cautioned selection. Google English Bulldogs and do the study your self now that you've already jumped in the previous searching.

My cousin use to breed English bulldogs. They are cool dogs but they are lazy, and kind of stupid.
