well most dogs chew like that out of boredom. Maybe you could make a tape of your voice and talk to her & put it on repeat when you're gone. Or leave the tv on or some music. so it sounds like someone is there. Its kind of a stress thing. she is upset because you are away so she chews. it could also be a spitful habit. kind of like a "well you left me here alone so I'll show you" type of thing. So try the tv or music fist and see if that helps. if not call your vet and see if he/she has any advice.

My dog had this problem for a short time as a pup. Aside from the rawhide, I don't have any suggestions.

My dog became much more agreeable, calm, and happy when I started to work a bit less (more time with her) and started to walk her every evening. On the weekends I took her out in the country where she could run. That usually tired her out for two solid days.

Afterward, she stopped eating my shoes, lipsticks, and her blankets. She is a sporting breed and I took that into consideration when thinking what to do with her problem. When my mom was free, she would take the dog to the park for a walk while I was at work. Mom felt safer in deserted locations and the dog got her exercise.

Don't give her a blanket.Give her newspapers to lie on.If she swallows a piece of the blanket, she could get an intestinal blockage, which can be fatal.

Is the crate thing new for her? Maybe its a sign of "separation anxiety" and you will need to show her that you will be back and will not be gone forever.

Give her blankets to chew that are not useful (old sheets, etc) . Or soft toys, but be careful that they don't have things she can swallow, like eyes, stuffing, etc.

Welcome to the stage of acting out for the sake of attention. This better known as seperation anxiety.
