Dogs - October 2006

My wife has a Maltese that doesn't listen very well and is pretty much spoiled. Shes does things like puts her nose in the garbage when we turn our backs and ("makes" uses the bathroom ) in the house from time to time and my wife lets her get away with it. We are now getting a Boxer puppy and the dog will be pretty much be mine to trane like the Maltese is hers. I would like to trane him stricter than the Maltese is traned but I am afraid the Maltese's bad habits will rub off on him.. What should I do? and will her behavior affect the Boxer's???

I have a three year old small breed whom I have trained to do her do inside (on a puppy training pad of course). But for some reason she's a hit or miss kinda girl. I want to train her to do this outside now, Is it too late and how do I go about doing this? Help.

Ok well are min pin was just fine all day then all thee sudden she started throwing up white foam stuff. Then she threw up green looking fabric a toy mouse tail and a shoe lace. And, now she keeps on throwing up white stuff and trying to eat small objects. We are very worry just cuz she isnt a puppy shes like almost three and shes my mothers baby. Why do people act like giving a dog a little swat on the *** is child abuse. You do remember that dogs live in the wild and if they piss another dog off they will get bitten in the face. Dogs in the wild will get bitting all the time, why should they come in a home in be treated like 2 month old infant baby?

You see, my neighbor has a puppy and when she comes over or calls me, my Max starts barking and acting irrational towards her or me. Once she has gone Max is his noremal self.

He acts like he doesnt want to jump up onto things very much either but he has jumped on the couch. When he threw up once, there was a small piece of onion in there. He also got a few ant bites this morning, so I thought maybe one of those 2 things could be it, but I am really not sure. Anyone have any ideas? He has eaten/drank a little bit but he is just NOT himself. :-(

both ears were standing really good now one is flopping all the time and wont stand up unless shes really excited about something and even then it wont stand up as well as it use too. Anyone have any suggestions?

Our aunts little dog was alwasy growling and snapping at everyone and when he growled at this little girl she yelled NO! and smacked it in the head. The dog yelped and went away and after a few days the little dog liked the girl the most out of everyone in the house. it was the strangest thing. makes me think a good smack is what a dog needs sometimes

Hello all... I have a rat terrier and she had a litter of 9 born on the 2nd of October. Unfortunately 2 of them died. Now 26 days later they are teething and the mother pushes them away because she feels their teeth. This is also her first litter! She really is a good mom but the pups teething really bothers her. I am wondering if I can start feeding them canned food. I have tried feeding them Goats Milk through a bottle with no success. Is it okay to feed them canned food?

When a dog gets old and dies where do you take him? how much you pay? I'm asking this casue I'm from mexico and there well we just throw away the dogs in the trash I think that is sooooo cruel of them to do that and well i'm still stuck witht that idea....where do you take your dog when it dies

My dachshund crossbreed is 8 months old, and is generally terrified of nail clippers. We tried trimming her nails before a couple of times, but now that she's older, we have great difficulty getting her to stay still. We also tried filing, but it's not as effective as clipping. We're also thinking of just taking her to the vet and have her claws trimmed there. Any other suggestions?
