Well, my dog was euthanased and the vet had him cremated and returned his ashes to me for scattering.
If the dog dies of natural causes outwith the vet's surgery then most people would take the dog to the vet to get him cremated; those with particularly big gardens might bury him there though. Not sure how legal that is, mind you, water tables and all...

You can do several things. My 17 yr old Bassett hound died in January of this year so I went through this not long ago. One, you can bury it in your backyard if you have a yard. Also, the vet can have it cremated for you and then return the ashes to you or dispose of them for you. That costs between $50 and $100. We buried ours in a pet cemetary not far from here and it cost about $150. He has a headstone and everything and they keep the cemetary mowed and looking nice.I found this man's name in the phone book and he even came to the house and picked up my dog to take and bury. Look in the yellow pages under pets, pet cemetaries and vets. Hope this helps.

If you live in an area where you can, you can bury him. Dog grave stones are available and it's nice to plant flowers in the spring..
We have a family pet cemetery (at my mother's place in the Country) and all of our pets that have passed on for the last twenty years or so from all the family members, are buried there. There's a little bench, and little head stones, with the dogs/cats/hamsters/etc. names and dates of birth/death and little sayings on them.
It's a nice way for us to remember our pets.
Other options are cremations and you can keep or scatter the ashes over his favorite spot.

Every living creature made by God,deserves a decent burial, try to dig a hole and put the pet in a covered container and cover it up with the dirt you took out of hole while digging.say a little prayer and you will feel much better after all this is over.

Usually we take them to a veternarian and they ask us how we would like the pet disposed of, some get them cremated so they can remember their pet, others have them buried. I have never known anyone to just throw them in the trash, we love our pets too much here.

Man that does sound cruel, I would call your local vet, they do it for you for a fee, (all are different) or if you dont have the money than bury your dog in your back yard, or his favourite place where he liked to play or walk.

Take him to a vet's office and have the animal sent to a crematorium. There are many cities that do not allow pets to be buried within city limits, so that is the best idea that I have.

You can bury it in your backyard (as long as local ordnance's allow that). Many funeral homes will cremate your pet .
If you take it to the vet, they usually charge a disposal fee, and will dispose of the body in one of several ways [it depends on the clinic, the state rules, and many other factors]
--They may send the body off for mass cremation
--They may send the body off to be buried in a mass grave
--They may send the body off to the local dump

find a place your dog really enjoyed, dig a deep hole and bury her there.
my moms two poms died recently of congenital heart failure. they died about a year apart. they loved to run up at our relatives maple sugar house so they were buried up there near the tree line.
good luck on finding the right place for your dog.
