Right after we slice open your rear and hack off your coccyx.

No longer than 4 days after birth. If you wait too long, the bones in the tail become more dense and the experience for the puppy will be much more painful and take longer to heal. The longer you wait, the more likely the dock will not turn out as it should.

3 days is the best time. Anything after 5 is no good. If you miss this period, your vet will have to wait until they are old enough to be anesthetized and rather than a docking it becomes and amputation. Much more discomfort on the animals, longer recovery time, and raises the cost exponentially. Get those tails and dew claws done right away!

If the puppies are going to be show dogs or dogs used for breeding purposes, the docking can be done when they are about 3-5 days old. But we're susprised that you don't know this if you're an experienced breeder.

If the dogs aren't going to be used for show or breeding purposes, there is no need to "mutilate" them by docking their tails and ears to meet some arbitrary human-imposed "standard of beauty". So leave them alone.

Before they are 4 days old. The vet I work for prefers to do them when they are about 2 days old. You can get their dewclaws removed at the same time as the tail docking.

It needs to be done by the time they are 3 days old.

3 days old. A quality breeder would already know this. If they are any older just don't do it. It's a bloody painful surgical procedure.
