I took my Pom X to the groomer and asked her to clip his claws. She misunderstood me, thought I said "clip him" and when I picked him up he had been SHAVED! I was so horrified I didn't know what to say. He looks rediculous now and I'm worried about his body temperature being properly regulated. To top it off he goes in for surgery tomorrow to have some teeth pulled and I'm sure the vet is going to be surprised to say the least. Any suggestions on how to groom him myself from now on and how to make sure he's not too cold?

What have you taught your dog? I'm just seeing what things I should still work on teaching her. If it's out of the ordinary (other than like sit, stay, lay down) could u explain how u taught them it?

Bonus" how long can u teach a dog for? I know it varies, but i have a lab/sheppard and she's nearing one year. Can u still teach them easily until like 2 yrs old or older or what?

I have heard of programs that train service dogs for the elderly. I was hoping to find a program that would provide a dog to assist with mobility and balance, fetching the phone, carrying small items, etc. My 73 year old Mom has mobilty issues and needs a cane or walker to ambulate and is alone during the day and would benefit from and be more active with a trained service dog. I was hoping to find such a program in or near the greater Pittsburgh, PA, area.

These pups were rescued from a flea infested home. Not only that, but they have round worms that I am treating. I want 2 know if I can give them their 1st set of vaccinations at 4 weeks of age due to the rough start they have had. Plus, they have been exposed to land that a puppy died from parvo on. I want to protect them but don't want to do anything that will harm them any farther. Can anyone help out? Please, only HUMANE and SERIOUS answers ONLY. This is 2 small lives we are talking about. Thanks!!

I just want to know what you think about the way he works with dogs.

I watch his show everytime it is on, and I love watching him work with his pack. It amazes me how he can save so many dogs from being put down. I beleive if more people like him were around, that many dogs wouldn't have to be put down because they have bitten someone before. Also pitbulls(loving dogs if they are raised right, my uncle owns one and it is the sweetest thing ever.) wouldn't have to be banned in so many cities. I understand that they are used for fighting but so are other breeds so they should'nt be the only one targeted, it should be the owner who is blamed for having a dangerous dog, not the dog. If a dog gets out then they are'nt properly contained into the yard/house it is also not their fault. If a dog breaks a window(or something else similar) to get out you cant really blame that on the owner. I still cant beleive that he simply changes the way that the owners live, and the dog behaves.

My neighbors lock their dogsoutside during the days in sunny Central Fl. They are in a 12X12foot Chain-link fence with a tarp draped over part of it. Often, they bark and whine. Is this ok? What can I do, I mean, they are my neighbors and I don't want to be putting my nose in their business? At the same time, why get dogs just to lock them up outside? ANyways... thanks for the help.

Hey for people who like dogs, and would like to have a kennel online, the best website is www.showdog.com It is really fun and you can enter them in shows and stuff. The basic membership is free, but there is more available on premium memberships. I had a basic membership for awhile and it is also fun. just to let you know about it. The only thing they send you in an e-mail is your username and password(they give you a password, so write it down.), so you dont get a newsletter or anything. For answers, go to the site and tell me what you think of it. There is also a site Like this for cats called www.showcats.com which is made by the same company, and is the same exactly exept for it is with cats. I have one on both, but i pay more attention to my dog one. My name on it is batouttaheck, and i breed alaskan malamutes. If you go to the side and click on dog breeds, go to alaskan malamutes, I beleive I am number 14.
