While all dogs make sound, basenjis(spelling?) yodel, and cant bark. Try finding one from a shelter that isnt a big barker.

Boxer dogs don't bark unless they feel threatened by the other animal/person that is harming them or their family in some way I have two and the male barks at strange things but the female barely barks at all.

Basenjis are barkless dogs and are great companions. I suggest doing your research on any breed you get. If possible, look for a rescue dog.

I had a big Rott and he was extremely quiet - except when someone came near the house - then he let out one, massive bark. Other than while protecting, he was basically silent. I loved him and would definitely get another Rott.

Just so you know, Basenji's are NOT quiet, they may not bark, but they DO yodel, alot. I would suggest a retired racing greyhound. They are great dogs. Quiet as well.

There is a breed that doesn't bark. The name escapes me for the moment.

Chows typically do not bark unless it's serious. They usually just "chuff" if they hear or see something unusual.
