2 things that aren't actually tricks.
She stops at every street, and sits til she gets the OK to go ahead, this is to keep her from getting hit by a car. I saw how to do it on TV, you just stop at the curb, wait for her to sit, then give her a doggie treat and praise her when she sits. You can do gentle gentle pressure on her butt to get her to sit, too. Just give the Sit command once.
Also she comes when I wave my arms in a particular way, this way I don't have to yell at her to get her to come, I don't like yelling. Also taught with doggie treats. She can see a lot farther than she can hear so its helpful.

Well its best to teach when theyre puppies because their brains are still developing and they are getting familiar with the world. My dog is 9 months and knows sit, lie, up, shake, and come by both words and hand signals. He is very intelligent and learns a new trick in under 10 minutes. Its very frustrating though. He always acts his best when i bring out those treats because he knows that i mean bussiness or he wont get a treat. I would reccomend you dont work with your dog on learning new tricks for more than 15 minutes. They can get bored or their attention goes onto something else and that makes it even more frustraitng. Just teach him the basic stuff first, and if you want to go any further with his training, work on tricks at least three times a day. Good luck!

My dog is 5 years old and can still learn tricks. He is a corgy mix. Besides Speak, Sit & Roll Over, our dog can play Hide & Go Seek, Sit on his Hind Legs (Like a rabbit), and Balances food on his nose until we say he can eat it. He can also twirl around in a circle on his hind legs and will go to bed when we say "Go to bed". We basically taught him by showing him how to do the trick and then rewarding him with a treat everytime. Then he learned that if he does it on his own, he will also get a treat. Some things we didn't teach, but just fell into place, like the Hide & Go Seek & Go to Bed. He just learned the repetitiveness of what we were saying and learned to look for us in the usual spots where we hid. Good luck on training your dog! :)

As long as you are actively teaching your dog tricks then it will be about the same all the way.
mine can do all the normal tricks sit,stay,laydown,rollover,playdead,highfive(shake),speak,turnaround...
She was scratching her back on the floor when i taught her to play dead. I got lucky with that one.
I seen on here a couple of months ago that they taught there dog to wave by putting a piece of scotch tape above the eye. This will make them want to rub it off with the paw. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would work. I am currently now teaching her to hit a big ball back to who we say with her nose. She is catching on. It is like she is in the circus.
I taught her how to dance pretty. She looks like she is trying to be a balerina. she just started doing that when I would hold the treat above her nose and she would put her paws up one above the other and twirl around. That was just luck. I noticed her doing it and put words to it.
I had a friend who taught her dog to hop. I think they did it by putting the treat above the nose and kind of making it hop towards them and saying the command.
what i find funny and she listens to me when I say stop, but when I get the treats out, she will do all the tricks really really fast and is expecting a treat. She has learned to stop and follow commands when told to. I think it is cute when she does that, when guests come over I'll give them a treat and tell them to just stand there and there she goes over and over again all the tricks she was taught

We taught our chihuahua things: Not entering the kitchen at all, Bark when people & cars enter the yard and howl when other animals enter the yard, not to sit under us or beg while we eat (he is given a snack after supper for being a good boy) and to bark in the correct place while we sing how much is that doggie in the window.
Peanut is 5 yrs old and he is still able to learn new thing.

my chihuahua mix knows Sit, Down, Stay, Come, and she can sit on her back legs in a begging position on command. That she did on her own since she was a pup, all i did was hold up food over her nose, she would sit up, then i would say "good up" and give her the piece of food. Teaching can be easy at any age, all it takes is patience and dedication, it does not matter how old the dog is.

Training dogs is an ongoing process. They spend a lifetime learning. Our lab has taught herself a new trick...how to turn on the hose. Which reminds me ...I should go make sure i turned the water off outside.

Sit, down, stay, come, heel, jump over a jump, catch a ball in the air, run through a tunnel, walk a plank, and sit at my side when I come to a stop. We are training in agility. A dog can be trained their entire lives, younger ages learn quicker.

I never went in for tricks, etc. The only thing that I taught all of my dogs was to chase after a ball and bring it back.. that is all.

well i taught my neighbors dog to hide behind the curtains
and surprisingly jump out when there are unknown visitors
I would get behind the curtains and do that a lot
and say come on ,I had to pretend i was a dog
I thought like a dog
it took forever to do it but to be honest.
Some dogs are like down right scary
they seem to really know what you mean
