I don't think it's a problem with tap water as he'll drink water dripping from the hose, or that's left on the decking after I've watered the garden. He drinks from muddy puddles, streams and even from my glass if I leave it on the floor but never from his dish. It's not a great problem but if I go out in this hot weather and leave water in his dish I'm worried he won't drink enough.

I have been advised that my partners dog seems to drink a lot of water and this could point to a health problem, probably diabetis. Is this the case?

I'm moving to a small house by myself soon with a smallish backyard, I want to get a small dog that is still aggressive enough to protect me incase of intruders etc.. but all the littles one seem to be yappy and timid??.. I used to have a boxer who was great but he passed away and a dog his with his energy and size would get bored in my small house.. plus I work 10 hours a day so it would be hard to exercise the dog regulary..

I have a 5 1/2 month old puppy - Australian Sheperd. He loves rawhide bones !! The lady that fostered him before i adopted him said it is perfectly safe for a dog to eat them. But still ... thought i might get some good answers on here ... from people who have dogs or work with dogs !! Are they safe, healthy, and good for their teeth? --- THANX

I found a stray dog who had ehrlichia. The vet prescribed doxycycline for 2 weeks. I want to know if 2 weeks is enough, because I saw in some sites that it has to be taken 2-4 weeks. Also, after the time he takes the medication, how do I know if the illness is gone? Do I test him again? Because I also read once he's had the disease, he will always test positive. Is this true?

i have heard people say table scraps are bad for pets especially chicken bones. my dog pretty much eats what ever i eat i spend very little mony on dog food. i have given her chicken bones for years and they caused no harm to her. i have high blood pressure and cholesterol and i am sure she does to. i have also heard chocolate can hurt dogs. i seldom give her chocolate because i seldom eat chocolate. is any of the stuff i heard true?

I adopted a 2 year old australian shepherd about 3 weeks ago. I kept her on the same food as her original owner was feeding her, and she rarely will eat it now.
The only way i can get her to eat a relatively good amount is by adding human food to it, which i would prefer not to do.
I know they sell the gravy for dogs, but, is there anything that i can do to get her to actually eat her food plain?

My mom is always rescuing the dogs that nobody else will take from the animal shelter. Now she has "rosey" a pitbull with her ears cut off so that she can fight other dogs.Rosey is the sweetest dog, probably 4 years old and was brought to the pounnd still lactating,no pups found though. She poops and pees all over the house when Mom leaves.Mom even got the carpet taken off the floor and had her wood floor refinished in hope that Rosie wouldn't be "marking a spot".Any suggestions for getting Rosie in line with a loving home would be greatly appriecated. She's was a very abused dog and my mom loves her very much.
