Any breed of dog can be trained, but the ease of training does differ with breed. Shelties, heelers, and Australian shepherds were already mentioned and are highly trainable dogs. Indeed, these dogs are very willing to work and always want to please their owner. While it can be easier to teach these dogs new tricks than other breeds, they are also easy to "accidently" train! What I mean is that they might notice minute details, like that you scratched your nose at the exact moment they leaned on their left leg and sighed. From now on, they might think that a scratch of your nose means they should lean on their left leg and sigh! This kind of attention on the dog's part is very helpful for teaching tricks, but keep in mind that any breen of dog can be trained to perform tricks. If you are looking to only train your dog to pick up treats gently and walk nicely on a leash, I would say that you should instead focus on which breed of dog you would like to spend your life with, since any breed of dog can be trained.

What do you want to train them for, Agility, obedience, guard, hunting, herding?

All breeds are trainable, but some are better at certain disciplines than other. Hence the army tends to like German Sheperds or the Belgian Shepherd dogs like Malvouis or Tervouren. But Labradors are often picked for things like snifferdogs and guide dogs.

Collies (especially border collie) are very bright and great for things like obedience and agility also very very active and you have to have at least a couple of hours a day to spend on them.

Have a look at what you want from your dog, do some research and then go to a dog show and have a look around and talk to owners and breeders of the dogs you have in mind.

Any dog can easily be trained if you know what your doing! And Patient is a vertue! But id have to say one of the most smart dogs would have to be a K-9 aka a german shepard or a rotwhiler! But ive got a little pomerainian poodle and it is actually a pretty smart dog but little dogs seem to be more hyper and so its harder to teach them unless you are very patient! Dont always tell them good dog or pet them if they do wrong only appoad them if they do what your telling them to do! And dont always treat them with a treat or they will get depend on it and they wont listen unless they have that treat!

any dog can be trained but the trick is when you accomplish the training do not stop, you must always reinforce the training with you dog, and while training you should reward your dog with praise not a treat, otherwise the dog will always expect a treat and is basically doing whatever for the treat. give praise by saying good boy or girl.

I have poodles. They can learn commands in one day! They are cute and easy to house train also. The breed was originally used as circus dogs due to how funny they look when their hair is cut in a certain manner and they are very easy to train. They come in three sizes: Toy, Miniature and Standard. The miniature is medium sized and easy to maintain.

Hope that helped! :-)

Australian Shepherds, Collies... Shelties. Those are the three that come to my mind autmatically. :o) If those breeds interest you, search the web for them, they are all beautiful, I own all of them. They are VERY easy to train, and are very loyal dogs.
