My cat seems to always be licking plastic bags if he can see one. We've had five cats altogether in our family and he's the first one ever to lick plastic bags.

Is it a normal thing? Or is my cat just weird?

The vet suggested that I get my maine coon groomed (she mentioned a lion cut). I googled pic of that horrible, ridiculous looking cut and all the kitties on the images look absolutely miserable! My cat Angelo is very shy with strangers and he hates getting out of the house so here are my questions: Has anyone gotten a lion cut to their cat? What was his/her behavior after getting it? How long did it take to grow back?
Thank you all for your answers, and hurry up...we have an appointment for saturday Oct 27th!!!!!!

My cat could not breathe this morning, so I took her to the vet who ruled out other possible diseases. he gave her a shot of steroid and albuterol, and he just called me back (she stayed at the vet) and she is breathing normally again and purring :-)
He mentioned a 6-month treatment with steroid. I have asthma myself, but my steroid treatment only lasted for a week.

Anyone with an asthmatic cat?
any advise?

Thank you
ps: I do trust my vet, but I want to have some opinions from people who live with an asthmatic cat. Do you have a daily treatment or do you give albuterol when your cat has an attack?

thank you

Sunday night I trapped a feral cat and took her an animal clinic on monday morning to get, spayed, shots, tests, etc. I took her back to my HOUSE to recover from her surgery (she was trapped 100 feet from my house) As much as people may hate me for doing this, but i refuse to keep the cat cooped up in a metal cage for any unnecessary amount of time, so I closed off my back bedroom at let her recover in the luxury of a whole bedroom with a litter box food, etc.
Anyways, my question is how long do I need to keep her in the bedroom before i can release her back out. Ive been told so many differnt things, that I dont know what to do. The vet told me only 24 hours, becuase any longer is more stressful on the cat. However the previous time I TNR, a different person at the vet said for females, 3days!! I only want to do whats best for the cat so please advise the best time frame.
*This cat is wild, so any sort of adoptions or taking to a humane society for adoption is not an option

appreciated the comments about keeping our cats in the house and safe on 5th november, but unfortunately, due to some inconsiderate sellers, the fireworks have started going off here already!!! not easy to keep the cats in for a fortnight without distressing them....

After a rush to the emergency vet this weekend, we've learned our beloved cat is a diabetic. Are there any other cat owners that can share their experiences and advice on how best to deal with this new situation? Thanks so much for your responses!

WE live in PA and have some trees around us. My cat usually is an inside cat. However he got out the night of 10-21. It is 11:00am on 10-23 and he still isn't back. When he rarely gets out he is usually pawing at the glass doors in the morning. I am sick thinking he was attacked by a hawk or owl. We have both around here. I am so sad because it was my fault.

So this week, my cat is having some attitude with me! and she has been way more hyper than usual... at night she gets under the covers and attacks my legs... she has never done that before lol, she usually just tackles my legs from over the converter.. now i have scratches all over my legs haha... and she has been quite the demanding talker lately as well.. i love her so much, her moods are like mine, up and down haha.. she is adorable though i cant live with out her.
so how is your cat acting this week? :)

Okay, a few days ago my cat has been leaving little yellow looking seeds about the size of a flea behide where she sleeps/lays. I bombed my apt and gave her a flea bath and washed all the blankets and cleaned out the couch and everything. And the next morning there they were! What are they? I thought they were flea eggs or something but after I bombed and cleaned I realized they aren't. Could someoe tell me what I can do? I have a dog too, but they're only coming from the cat...

We just recently rescued/adopted a 4 week old orphaned kitten and thought it would be helpful in keeping him warm during the night if he had a stuffed animal in his bed with him. It's a furry dog - dog toy. This is the first pet I've ever really had on my own and I was unsure if it was okay for the cat to bond with the stuffed animal. It climbs up into it's bed and cuddles when he's not playing.

My cat jumped up on the bed this morning and i was petting him and when I scratched his but near his tail he flipped around and bit at me. I turned the light on and checked it out, and he has a HUGE lump, like an inch in diameter, right where his tail starts. I cant tell if its a tumor (I had a white cat we eventually lost to cancerous tumors) , or if its a wound that got infected, or if he hurt his tail (my dog sprained his tail once and it swelled up)...
He is an ASH, all black, under a year old. He has been eating mice and birds every day, I dont know if that makes a difference. Im going to get him to the vet, but not until later in the day. Please ease my nerves!

I'd love my kittens to meow more...at the moment they are very vocal they Prrrttt loudly and chunter away to them selves and each other and they give out these little pathetic cries when they want food..but thats it..

they dont really MEEOW!..is this becuase they are just learning to use their voices? they are still only 7/8 months.

is the fact the Prrrtt so much a sign they will meow later in life?

I know they aren't shy!
so last night I was sat watching t.v quietly, they were playing making lots of little noises as they do.. then one of them went to the door to get out..but it was silence, he just stares at me,
I was meowing at him to try and encourage him to meow back..but he just stares at me untill i open the door for him...
then I might get a little Prrrt by way of a thankyou.

One of my neighbours (a few doors down) is pi*sed off with me as his cat keeps eating my cat's food.

I have a cat flap and three cats of different ages including one elderly. Because they are fed dried food and are not greedy, I tend to leave food down for them to help themselves - it's much easier and I feel better for the older one who likes to eat little and often.

The neighbouring cat comes in and eats some of the food - I shoo her away when I see her but she usually does it when the house is empty or at night.

Do I have to change my routine just to please this neighbour - its not my fault his cat is greedy! Why should I have to shut my cat flap when my cats love their freedom?

I just got a new kitty 3 days ago and she has fleas. We took her to the vet today and they put lotion on her back to get rid of them. She has only been in my room, so we vacummed the floor, changed my bed sheets, and lightly vaccumed her little kitty bed. After that we gave her a small bath. (To get rid of the poop the fleas leave, and to get rid of the dead fleas)

Should the fleas be gone now? I have seen a few on her, but my mom says their just dead ones....I dont know though. And the kittens sleeping in my bed tonight so....ya. What do you think?

Our sweet OSH tabby picked up ringworm from the groomer back in July and it has since grown into a complete NIGHTMARE!

We took him to the vet after spotting a hairless spot on his neck. The culture came back as the Trichophyton species of ringworm. We treated topically with Tresoderm and systematically with Ketaconazole. After a month the systems worsened. The ringworm spread to his ears and to the other side of his neck. On top of that, both my wife and I contracted ringworm and a friend who came to visit got it as well! 100% Tea tree oil worked on myself so we tried that on our cat as well (we e-collared him so as not to ingest the tea tree). That didn't work.

After much research, he's now on Itraconazole and once to twice weekly LymDyp baths. We've now isolated him to a hallway which we have been cleaning with 10% bleach solution. It's been 4 weeks since we started this treatament and he is STILL getting new spots! His baby fur is now thin and coarse and he's just so sad. HELP!!

If I switch my cat's diet to raw food, then It would be some what healthier as I heard. But will it raise a chance of getting all kind of warms?

I got my cat as a 1 month old kitten when it just just started eating dry food (it was tiny) It never seen a vet or had any shots because it seems healthy. I heard that once you get your cat de-wormed in the vet they will never get them again.

But since my cat never been dewormed is feeding it raw fish a bad idea, will it raise a chance of different kinds of worms?

Thanks for any tips!
