That's because they don't understand them. They expect cats to be just like dogs and can't stand it that they aren't. I'm glad they aren't like dogs. I hate being jumped up on, licked, followed around, and pestered for scraps of food. I freak out when they bark or lunge at me. Just like a lot of men don't like cats, a lot of women don't like dogs either.

I got a dog and a cat! :) I hated cats before we got ours as a kitten. I'm still allergic to nearly every other cat though - which is why I hated cats.

Not all men hate cats. I convinced my boyfriend to take in a poor stray, and at times I think he loves her more than me. I've known other guys who loved their cats. I suppose it's just more "manly" to have a dog. When I think about it, they are kind of like dogs, some of them anyway. They really aren't that clean, they are not as smart as cats, and they need loads of attention. I think some guys think of their dogs as faithful buddies.

FOR the same reason many women don't--you have to earn their affection, not just automatically receive it like with a dog.
Cats only like truely good people and you have to earn their trust. Most people can't pass the test. I've found cats do act like dogs once you win their trust. Most people just don't get that far.

Wow, is this true? Would some of you form a group and tell MY man that men don't like cats? Maybe then, there won't be one..or two...or three sleeping BETWEEN US?! Jus' kidding but they really do sleep between us ON HIS SIDE! And he really does love his cats.

not always true, i know a lot of men who aren't that great who have cats. so cats don't always like 'good' people.
I don't like them because i'm allergic, and the one i had growing up was mean.
I also don't prefer them, because
they don't do stuff.
and you can't really have a little rough play with them. they don't do tricks or fetch.

Guys hate cats because cats are lazy. They sit around waiting to be praised. They think to highly of themselves, treating people as servants. Guys don't like being servants.

not "manly" enough...or didnt grow up with them.
neither mine nor my sisters significant other liked cats.
we both have since brought them over to the dark side :)
