I'm getting a new kitten later on this month and I've never had a pet before, but I'm responsible enough to have a pet. I'm trying to prepare everyhting so that when the kitten comes home, it can feel welcomed.... what would u do to prepare for this?

We just adopted a (we think) 6-8 week old kitten from a friend who had a stray mother cat with a litter - we adopted one, who is sweet and friendly, has eaten fairly well since we got him (yesterday) however I'm concerned that he hasn't used the litter pan yet, I've put him in it and tried to help him with digging the litter, etc. but I haven't see any pee/poop yet - it's been almost 24 hours and I'm worried about it now.

I've read that you sometimes have to stimulate the mother cleaning them in order to have them go, but wondering if a kitten at 6-8 weeks old doesn't already do it on their own.

Thanks!

I've had my cat who is now 15 months old since he was 6 weeks old. He has always had extremely strong urine and feces. The smell is nearly unbearable. We've tried Dad's food that is supposed to help with Urinary Tracts but it did not affect it. Is there any brand of food that is good at combatting this? We bought a covered litter box to cut down on the smell and clean it daily but it's still terrible. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a 1 year old cat who has suffered from chronic urinary infections due to crystals etc. The vet placed her on a special diet as well as antibiotics to clear the infections and is on distilled water. Here is the problem: When she is on the antibiotic she goes in the litter box but once she is done with the antibiotic she starts to urinate on any items left on the floor (ie: towels, shirts etc). I am so upset because we cannot go on this way. She has had 4 rounds of antibiotics and nothing is helping. I give her the special cat food as well as distilled water. What else can I do. Do I need to put her down??? I am so upset by this but I do not know what is left for me to do. HELP!!! I love her and want to keep her but I have already spent a ton on her.

Okay guys, my cat is such a dork. He has a little problem. When I let him in the house he likes to run back to the bathroom and play in the toliet. Then he leaves his muddy paw prints all over the seat and the floor. Tupac is just a mess! (tupac isn't his real name, its a nickname) Now with our new kitten P.J. I'm afraid he will pick up the same habit! Any suggestions on how to break the habit? HELP!

P.S. Leaving the lid down doesn't help, he still gets his paws in there!

I have a cat that is about 8 months old she is spayed she receives love and attention and even has another cat to play with. But she won't let me sleep! I work nights and dont get to bed until about 2am and she wakes me up like clockwork at about 6am everyday. She will stand at my bedroom door and meow loudly until I get up. She isn't sick she's been doing this since she was 2 months old. I've tried everything. I will spray her with a squirt bottle, i've placed my shoes outside my door because she doesn't like shoes, I get up and hold her and pet her and go to sleep on the couch and as soon as I close my eyes she's meowing again. Please does anyone know a good way to deter this behavior, I think I might have to get rid of her if it doesnt stop because i'm getting sick from not having enough sleep and I dont want to do that I love my cat. The other one I have doesnt do this so its not something she learned.

My cat had kittens and a lady that took one found out her son was allergic to it. I would be willing to take it back but I'm not sure if the mother would recognized it as hers. I know every time we touched the kittens the mother would lick the human smell off them. Now that the kitten has been gone 8 days and my friend told me Mommy won't know it's hers because our/her smell is gone. So, I question whether to take it back or not. Has anyone ever run into this situation? I need to make a decision within 24 hours or she is giving it to someone else, understandably.

My cat this morning is coughing and gagging on occasions, usually much more when he purrs or is shown attention, he done this a couple of weeks ago but after a few hours it went away.

He seems to constantly scratch the left side of his face, right at the back of the Jaw, I have looked inside his mouth and cant see anything unusual.

Any ideas? I cant take him to the vet today as its Sunday but it is a worrie.

I was sleeping and when i woke up, i found a pain. It turns out i rolled over my cat at night.

Why did it sleep so close to me?

Is it because I'm fat?

I have no i dea how it happened...but i am assuming that he fell or got hurt by something. i doubt that another cat can hurt him that much to actually break it. we jus took it to the vet about a month ago and dont want to spend that much money to take it again. he has been in the same spot for the past few days and hasnt eaten much. we feed it tuna, milk, and water. he wont eat his normal food. we would put ice on his arm. nothing has been been working....everytime that you would touch the area where he got broken, he would start meowing hysterically. What else can I do to help fix his arm...what am I doing wrong that i'm already doing?

thnx
