I have no i dea how it happened...but i am assuming that he fell or got hurt by something. i doubt that another cat can hurt him that much to actually break it. we jus took it to the vet about a month ago and dont want to spend that much money to take it again. he has been in the same spot for the past few days and hasnt eaten much. we feed it tuna, milk, and water. he wont eat his normal food. we would put ice on his arm. nothing has been been working....everytime that you would touch the area where he got broken, he would start meowing hysterically. What else can I do to help fix his arm...what am I doing wrong that i'm already doing?
thnx

ok all the people that are saying that i don't know how to take care of my cat you guys are wrong. I have had him for 9 years now. This morning he has been feeling a lot better, thanks to all the nice people who didn't yell at me for not taking it to the vet. He just need the rest, my whole family over reacted to it.

are you serious? i cant belive your wondering what you are doing wrong. first off putting ice on his leg isnt going to help , second there is nothing you can do other then take him in to a vet clinic. he needs a x-ray and then from there they will either have to do surgery or cast or both, depending on what type of break and what part of the bone. and this part really bother's me. if you can afford to take care of a pet then people shouldnt have them , i know that sounds rude but its like having a child .do you just leave your child with a broken bone and never take it in to have it looked at and fixed? animals reliey on us as owners to do the best by them. and yes i understand money can be a problem cause ive been there (dog with broken limb) it was a huge surgery and was extremly expensive but if i hadnt of fixed her she would not have walked on the leg again, would be in severe pain and then when healed on its own would shorten there quality of life, arthritis, infections etc. and another thing the diet you are feeding your cat is horrible and wont give him the proper diet he needs.

Okay...if the leg is broken it needs to be set...ice will not help. In fact, any movement or pressure to the leg could be painful for the cat. If the leg is not taken care of and set it could become infected and the cat could actually die. It is important that you take the cat to the vet for a proper diagnosis and to have the leg set. Depending on where the leg is broken it may need to be repaired with surgery. The longer you wait the more expensive it will be. If you cannot afford treatment for the cat you could also contact the local SPCA or Humane Society...or even a cat rescue group and turn the cat over to them.
The vet will x-ray the leg and determine where the break is. If you allow the leg to go unattended it will start to heal and the vet will need to re-break the leg to set it correctly. If th break is on the growth plate the vet may need to put a pin in.
It is also possible that the leg is dislocated...this is why you need to take the kitten to a vet...so someone with training can correctly handle the problem. Good luck.

That is extremely irresponsible of you to not want to take your cat to the vet. So what if its expensive?!?!?! If you cant afford vet care, find him a new home where someone else can. His arm is BROKEN, what if you broke your arm, and someone said, 'Oh well its to expensive, guess you'll just have to have a broken arm, that wont heal back right, and you'll be permantley "warped" forever!" He is probably in a world of pain. You should not feed cats tuna, for starters. Secondly, a cat wont let you ice its arm unless its sedated, so dont even bother. You need to take him to the vet, I cannot even believe you are asking this sort of advice on yahoo answers. You are a horrible pet owner for even considering letting this go untreated.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. We recently had a case like this at our clinic. First of all, are you sure it is broken? Some people confuse soft tissue injuries with broken bones. If it is a soft tissue injury, the cat is uncomfortable but does not need immediate medical attention. If it is a broken bone, your cat is in terrible pain. There is no medication in your home which is adequate for severe pain and safe for the cat. The longer you wait, the worse it is for your cat. Some hospitals/clinics offer payment plans. If there is no way to pay for his treatment, you should consider euthanasia. Maybe there will be a vet or a tech at the clinic who can take him and pay for the surgery. Also, if he is in extreme pain he may become aggressive and you should take care not to be bitten. It is best not to move him unless you are taking him straight to the vet.

There isn't anything else that you can do to "fix" his arm!
He needed to see a vet when he first injured his leg no matter how much it costs.
For you to continue to not do anything you are setting up your cat for a life time deformaty (sp?) and leaving him in excrutiating pain right now.
Even if any one on here could suggest something for you to do, you would be horrible for even trying the suggestion.
Without knowing what the hell you are doing, you could cause your fur baby even more pain than he/she is all ready in.
For the love of GOD! Get off your a$$ and get that kitty to the vet!!!!!

What you are doing wrong:
Keeping your cat at home even though he definatly needs to see a vet ASAP.
Choosing how much you are willing to spend on a cat who is in pain
Allowing this to go on for a few days--my cat broke his arm and I found him at 10pm on July 4th, we were at the emergency cat hospital by 11pm
Ice on his arm...is that what you would do if you or your child had a BROKEN BONE?

A Vet could help. If, it been this long it already trying to heal. All I know is you may get some of the stuff at Wal-Wort or a drug store people wrap around a sprained ankle and wrap it snug, but, not too tight, then try not to move it. Really a Vet would be best.

Sorry, the only answer you'll get is to take it to the vet. There's nothing you can do at home. He probably needs surgery, pain meds, antibiotics, and lots of care. Please take him to he vet! I'm sure they'll find some way to finance it for you. Good luck and take care.

You are a terrible pet owner, you should NOT have pets. You don't WANT to spend money on the cat whose "arm" is broken and won't eat much?? What if you broke your arm and couldn't eat and your husband, or bf or parents didn't want to spend THAT much money on you?? You need to take the cat to a shelter if you can't be a responsible pet owner!!! You disgust me. I hope you NEVER have children, and if you do, I take pity on them should they ever be sick and you don't WANT to spend money on them!!!
