He has lost weight, is very cranky, walks into walls and has begun, most troubling, to urinate on my carpet downstairs in one general area, although his litter box is only a few feet away. Do I put him down? My house smells awful.

my 6 month old kitten was spayed on wednesday. She was quite lively thursday and ate all her food but since thursday night she has not hardly moved. She is just sleeping all the time and not eating much if any at all. Its now Saturday and she's still sleeping in the same spot, she purrs when I give her fuss but just goes back to sleep. Occasioally she'll get up and stretch her legs but only for 5 mins before she goes back to sleep. Is this normal?

I really love cats, though my father on the other hand, likes dogs. We currently have two family dogs: a female rotweiler and a stray mutt we adopted. I asked permission if it is alright to have a cat around the house - he said it was okay. Though I'm worried if the dogs would somehow harm my future kitty.

Is it possible to have both a cat and a dog around the house without creating havoc? If it is possible, how do you do it?

She is 6 months old and spayed and has done this numerous times. We saw the vet who was unable to suggest anything and we don't want to pay for a behaviourist. If it carries on we'll have to get rid of her so help please!

5cat household and 1 has tested positive for FIV and now I need to take the other 4 for blood tests next week.

All 5 cats been 'together' now for at least 5 years. Some play some avoid each other and some groom each other.

1. Why did my vet mention euthanasia for my other 4 cats if test positive (they are healthy).

2. If my FIV+ cat is only one which is positive should he be allowed back if he is feeling better or as vet said put down?

3. Should I keep FIV + cats with any of my cats who are negative? Will they catch it from cat litter / food proximity etc?

4. Should I re-home the cats or can they live together - have read so many different views on net so appreciate feedback from real-life experience with similar situation?

I know that I probably will find it extremely difficult to separate them and strangely enough the vet said that if they were all +ve that would make it more logical for them to stay together.

:(

I am on the computer? He does it constantly. How to stop this? I have tried wetting down his tail with cold water and chasing him downstairs...nothing gets through to him to stop..I sometimes take the deaf cat and set her up on top of the computer monitor box to watch her (then he doesn't dare try it in here).

this has happened over the last month and she previuosly was a very active cat. her eyes are bright, she has been wormed recently, with no visible worms in the stools. she is about 10 years old, of no specific breed. she can jump onto tables with ease but seems to not walk very well and does not run at all. i cannot find any unusual lumps or bumps on her and her coat appears to be quite good. she does not cough or sneeze and there are no discharges. there is no blood in her stools.

CATS KILL MILLION S OF BIRDS

hey guys, I found a stray not so long ago and began feeding her. Although she will let me pet her and even pick her up for about 30 - 45 seconds, she is still inatly feral. For the last few days she has been sneezing and coughing and has watery eyes. Right now I am dealing with some very serious medical problems of my own (potentially life threatening) and unfortunately just cannot afford vet care for her right now. I wondered if there might be a vet or vet tech that could give me some ideas of what I might be able to do to relieve these symptoms, bring down a fever and help her be a little more comfy. I've done all I can with a nice soft bed, good quality food, water and lots of TLC. Please don't yell at me, it won't help her and that's all I want to do.

Oh yes, I'm afraid if I take her to a shelter they'll just take on look and euthanize her so don't ask me to do that.

I volunteer on an ambulance, and was given the cat by a twp police officer after it was rescued by our local pd several days ago. I purchased a littler box for the cat immediately, but the cat won't use it to defecate. The cat urinates in the litter box, but uses various area rugs to defecate. I made a second litter box out of a cardboard box and used a different brand of litter (also placed it where she's been defecating), but the cat with still only use it to urinate. Any ideas on how to get the cat to start disposing of her waste approriately?

my cat tigger who is about a year old has two open wounds i suspect came from one of my dogs or my aggressive ottside male cat. a huge chunck of skin is missing. its all meat and flesh. i don't want him to get an infection but i can't afford to take him to the vet? is it a good idea to just clean it with peroxide or rubbing alcohol and a triple antibiotic. i have watched a lot of animal vet shows on t.v. and am wondering if shaving off the surrounding hair is a good idea so i can keep it bandaged up as not to cause an infection? and what is a good medication to give him for pain? i am using about a quarter of a quick dissolving childrens pain reliever (age 2-6). which is about 20 mg. of acetaminophen . . . is that a good idea? i also have these antibiotic pills i got from the hospital they are clindamycin should i give him a little bit once a day? i love my cat and my finaces parents gave him to me for my birthday and i don't want anything to happen to him . . . please help me!

I am moving to a new neighborhood with my 7 year old indoor/outdoor cat, i am worried that he will get out of the yard and be lost. Do you think the invisible fencing would work for a cat too? Has anyone got it for cats?

I own six cats, and one of them acts a little differently. I'm not talkin' like the other questions with the same concern, my cat might as well be a dog! Here's a list of doggish stuff he does:

-Begs for my food (already has cat food in pan)
-Rolls over when i pet him, seriously!!
-Found in the bath tub frequently, seems like not afraid of water
-Trashes parts of the house sometimes
-Chases after a ball (for example) and brings it right back
-Tries to eat bugs
-Likes being rubbed on the belly (When the other cats hate it)
etc... etc... etc!

Truthfully, the only things he does that are cat-like are meowing and purring! He is in contact with one dog whenever my cousin brings him over, so he is not imitating. What's going on?

I have a Husky mix, but she sure looks like a Husky....looks and personality. From my experience, I feel that the Husky is the sweetest and gentlest dog breed. They just absolutely adore people and other animals. She even loves my kitten!

I'm wondering which dog breed is your favorite and why? I also want to know which breed is excellent with people, children, and animals? And also, which breed is the least destructive when left alone for long periods of time....and which is the least vocal? Also, I feel like my Husky is pretty much a mute, lol.

My favorites are:

Husky
Golden retriever
Lab
Corgi
Beagle

My cat had a litter of kittens a week ago. I just noticed today that one of the babies has a round spot on her belly (about the size of a dime) it is slightly raised and seems to be infected because I the skin on top of it is white. It's hard to explain....... but it just looks infected. It is where the umbilical cord was.
She is thriving however and growing and nursing fine. Should I leave her alone and let Mama take care of her or should I put antibiotic ointment on it? (I assume mama will just lick it off though) I dont think it would be a good idea to take her to the vet. She cant be away from her Mama, she's too young and considering she is other wise doing well, I hate to risk her life taking her away from her Mama. Any ideas?

I've noticed that whenever there is a reflection on the ceiling, for example from a CD, my cat stares at it and his jaw twitches. I know that seems weird, but I know my cat isn't the only one who does that.

I have a domestic shorthair tabby, but if I had to pick a purebreed, I would want either one of these....

Siberian
Siamese
Turkish Van
Norwegian Forest Cat
Ragdoll
Maine Coon

Which one you think I should get from those and why? If not, which one would you prefer? I know not every cat is the same...all have different personalities, but which are known to have the gentlest temperment?
