I know someone on here (sorry, can't find the question so not sure who) recommended a larger bowl--one that was wide enough so the cat(s) can drink without hitting their whiskers on the edges of the bowl. I tried that and it really helped, at least with one of my cats. The others either didn't do it or now only do it once in a while.
One of my cats scratches in front of the bowl before he drinks...any idea why? I can't figure it out!
So that's my solution...can't wait to see yours.

I have three cats and each has its own method of drinking water. My oldest insists (quite loudly) on water from a running tap. Since it doesn't make a mess, I indulge her by letting her have a drink while i prepare food. (Her second choice is water out of the toilet bowl - that I do not indulge!)
My middle cat likes her water in a glass - preferably my good crystal. She carefully and daintily dips her left paw into the water and then licks it off. She has never tipped the glass and it keeps her occupied for hours. Since she is so funny and doesn't make any mess, I indulge her.
My youngest cat is the major problem. He likes to drink out of the water bowl - how strange. Unfortunately, he slops the water everywhere. (He is also the noisiest lapper I have ever heard!) He also likes to play with the bowl itself. When there isn't much water left, he bangs his paw on the edge until it flips. I thought I had the perfect answer when I put a large sponge cloth under the dish. The texture and smell of the sponge were irresistible, I guess, because he pulled the sponge out from under the dish to play with and tipped the dish - making a bigger mess than ever. I have also tried towels - both paper and terry - with the same results. I have tried special water dispensers, heavier bowls and even a water bottle mounted on the wall (the kind made for hampsters) and none have worked. He finds a way to make a mess with the water.
I have finally given up and just mop up the water after he drinks. After all it is only water and the floor around the cat eating area in the kitchen is the cleanest spot in the house!

numerous of our cats pick to dip their paw interior the water bowl and lick the water off their paw. i've got continuously puzzled how they be able to stay hydrated eating such small quantities at one time like that yet they do. I even have persons that actual scoop the water out of the water bowl and make a multitude all over the floor till now they drink. that's why I shop a rung under their water dish and alter it on an well-known basis. We additionally shop a water dish in our bath which does help plenty because of the fact some situations my water "throwers" will play in there and that i don't have the mess to sparkling up. a number of our cats won't drink till they are able to drink out of a working faucet. we've a puppy fountain, that facilitates, yet they nonetheless shop on with me into the washing room watching for me to teach the water on for them. Cats are surprising.....and that they prepare us nicely!

I found that my cat only plays and splashes cold water. So I stopped giving him water from the fridge and the problem was solved.

You think you've got problems? My cat won't drink from any other water scource than a running tap or other moving body of water. He'll drink the recycled pool water from our water feature before he'll drink from a bowl. try dealing with that bit of psycosis.

One of my cats, Thor, loves to play in his water....so
I think putting a water bowl in the bathtub is a good idea... my cats like it because they can play and if they get wet they just jump out..... makes less mess for me to clean up too.... good luck!

It's nice to see a cat enjoying itself anyway, isnt it? My cats like to drink from our swimming pool as well.
