I own six cats, and one of them acts a little differently. I'm not talkin' like the other questions with the same concern, my cat might as well be a dog! Here's a list of doggish stuff he does:

-Begs for my food (already has cat food in pan)
-Rolls over when i pet him, seriously!!
-Found in the bath tub frequently, seems like not afraid of water
-Trashes parts of the house sometimes
-Chases after a ball (for example) and brings it right back
-Tries to eat bugs
-Likes being rubbed on the belly (When the other cats hate it)
etc... etc... etc!

Truthfully, the only things he does that are cat-like are meowing and purring! He is in contact with one dog whenever my cousin brings him over, so he is not imitating. What's going on?

Not all cats have to act like a pre-determined feline. I have several different type cats at various times that did all the things you have described. 1 cat would sit by us at dinner and when begging didn't get him anything he would stretch up and snag it of the plate with his paw, he also liked to get vacuumed. 1 loved to retrieve any thing I threw done the hall. 1 also like to have his front feet in the pool. Bugs are elusive and fun to catch. Cats can be and do many many things. It does not make him dog like.

We have an Abyssinian and an Abyssinian/Maine Coon mix and they do the same thing it could just be that you have a very unique cat. Ours does the same thing they will stretch out on the floor and roll around wanting a belly rub. When we eat dinner we will get the stare down from the cats. Remember there are foods that are harmful for cats. Vegetables without spices or butter are fine though. As long as they are kept to a minimum. Our Abyssinian will open and close doors, and is terrified of the dark and will turn on the lights when she is in the room and turn the lights off when she leaves the room. She will call you from across the house to find you and knows how to sit and walk on a leash. My neighbors think I am crazy walking my cat on a leash around the block but it makes her happy so I let them think it. Take pride in your unique baby. Thats really cool.

We've had 3 maine coons in the family. 1 pased away, one is with My parentsd & 1 is my grandpas. all 3 act very doggish. Willow used to follow mom Jogging. Louie loves belly rubs and will siff both crotch butts when you enter his domain & Mr Handsome likes to sit next to Grandpa on the Sofa and put his head on grandpas knee as he reads the paper. I'm extra Thankful for Mr Handsome because Granny died a year and a half ago & he keeps grandpa from getting lonely.

Cats are Higly intelligent creatures. they learn very quickly what it takes to get your attention , food etc.. ( tries to eat bugs) Cats have a natural curiosity, chasing and eating bugs is also a cat thing.. but the rest seem to be a learned behavior.. It's called imprinting.. has Your cat been around a dog when it was little? imprinting are behaviors learned as babies from other animals.. My cat LOVES to watch tv , but the only time it seems to really pay attention is when Animal Planet is on.

I know what you mean. One of our cats behaves like that also. It's so funny when he begs for food at the dinner table when his dish is already filled up. He gives the cold shoulder when he doesn't get his way though, so he's part dog, part cat in some ways

I speak Spanish to her and I tell "COME" and she comes immediately and she walk ahead of me but pausing just like a dog, I always call her "mi perrita" ...but she is very obedient...and who said that cats are not intelligents.
