Don't jump to conclusions yet. Someone in the neighborhood may have taken him in... a kid perhaps lured him with food. So, ask around your neighborhood... knock on doors with a picture of your cat ... ask if they've seen him. It could also be the case that your kitty has gone adventures in someone's backyard and shed and got locked in. It happens. You can also post flyers with your kitty's picture and your phone number. And about those two men... I doubt they;d been able to catch an un-neutered cat. Cats can sense if someone means them harm.
ALSO, since he is not neutered, he may have picked up the scent of a female cat in heat - males WILL travel far from home to get to a female cat in heat if they are still intact! My own cat went missing for 10 days when he was 2 yers old and still un-neutered. I thought I'd never see him again. But he came back all dirty and starving. I immediately scheduled a vet appointment to have him fixed.
When your cat does show up, PLEASE get him fixed (neutered) and keep him indoors otherwise you run the risk of truly losing him for good.

Well I would check the pound twice a week at least. I would put a pic. of your cat (if you have one) in the local paper and offer a reward for his return. If you can prove ownership (through a microchip, or papers) then try filing a police report using the info. from your mom. If all else fails just keep looking and hoping that he finds his way home. My precious went missing for 2 months and she never even left my front yard before. I found her at my dads house (1 block away) that I had recently moved from, she was under his house hiding. Good Luck..

If he smelled a female in heat, believe me his fear of passing cars would disappear in an instant the instinctual sex drive is more powerful than fear in animals, if your lucky he his with a female somewhere but once done his duty he is going to have to cross roads again to come home, you may have to go out and search for him, and I hope you find him and learn a lesson from this
I have to drive 20 minute to and from work every day and need to past thru 2 small towns and every week I had to drive past at least 2 bodies of cats, that is over a 100 a cats a year and I have had to make the same drive for 15 years, so that is 1500 dead and mangled cats I have had to witness, it upsets me to see so many senseless deaths. I have had cats myself I have always kept them indoors or put them on a leash to enjoy fresh air, I do not let my dogs loose to roam and risk getting killed and same does with the cats.
And it boggles my mind why others cannot see it as cruel and dangerous to allow their cats outside loose and makes me wonder do they not love their cats enough to want to protect and keep them safe

I think all you can do is photocopy pictures of kitty and post up lost ads around the area. Call your local animal shelters and let them know about your lost cat , slip them a picture of him if you can so they keep their eyes open. Other then that if he's gone for more than 2 weeks i'd say he's gone for good. But dont think negatvive if someone found him be assured he's being well taken care of.
